Donald Trump made a high-profile appearance at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx Thursday, marking the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Despite the somber occasion, the former president found time to deliver a rousing speech to the New York Yankees players, mixing nostalgia, humor, and encouragement.

The visit came just a day after the tragic shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, adding an emotional layer to Trump’s day in New York. Earlier, he had paid respects at the Pentagon.

Tonight, we remember those we lost, the heroism of all who bravely sacrificed their own lives to save others, and those who died from illnesses obtained at Ground Zero. Their spirit lives on today with our First Responders and all who serve our communities and our country.

Clubhouse Pep Talk: Trump Predicts Big Season

Before the Yankees faced off against the Tigers, Trump spoke inside the team clubhouse, where he reflected on his longtime friendship with the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and credited himself, in part, for the team’s historic success in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

“You’re gonna win. I’ll tell you what, George Steinbrenner was a great friend of mine, the whole family,” Trump said. “For some reason, I don’t know what it was, we won every time I came.”

He added a humorous jab at Steinbrenner’s intensity:

“You think that was easy sitting with him for a game? It wasn’t. It was brutal. You were exhausted at the end, but he won and you’re gonna win, you’re gonna go all the way and you’ll get in the playoffs.”

Trump then turned his sights on the Yankees’ rivals, teasing the Boston Red Sox, who famously won 15 straight games after visiting the White House, with a mix of jest and competitive spirit.

Moving to the Suite: A Presidential View

After his clubhouse pep talk, Trump made his way to a suite at Yankee Stadium to watch the game with Yankee president Randy Levine and political commentator Bill O’Reilly. The visit offered a mix of baseball nostalgia, patriotic tribute, and public engagement, with Trump interacting warmly with the crowd.

The reaction from fans was noticeably enthusiastic, with a “USA” chant breaking out during his appearance.

    Honoring Charlie Kirk

The Yankees also paused to honor Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old activist tragically killed earlier this week. A moment of silence was observed before the Yankees-Tigers game, blending remembrance with the energy of America’s pastime.

Trump’s presence, combined with the somber 9/11 tribute and celebration of baseball, highlighted a day of reflection, patriotism, and community gathering in the Bronx.

From the US Open to Yankee Stadium

This appearance follows Trump’s recent attendance at the US Open in Queens, where he received a mix of cheers and boos. Thursday’s Yankees visit, however, drew a noticeably warmer reaction from the patriotic crowd, underscoring the emotional significance of the 9/11 anniversary.
