Nas Lands $5.5B Queens Casino Deal as Jay-Z’s Plan Fails

Queens just scored a massive win — and Nas is right at the center of it.

The rap icon has officially aligned himself with a $5.5 billion Resorts World Casino project that’s set to transform his hometown into one of New York’s biggest gambling hubs. The move was locked in after a decisive vote from the New York State Gaming Commission, a milestone moment that’s already sparking borough pride — and hip hop rivalries.

Queens Throws Shade at Jay-Z After Brooklyn Casino Plan Collapses

Nas didn’t attend the meeting, but Queens Borough President Donovan Richards made sure his presence was felt. Moments before casting his vote, Richards couldn’t resist firing off a jab at Jay-Z, whose Caesars Palace casino proposal in Brooklyn was rejected.

“Sorry, Jay-Z, we win again,” Richards quipped, echoing the energy of Nas’ legendary diss track Ether. He even doubled down, joking that he wanted to let some “ether” fly to make Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s “soul burn slow.”

The room reportedly lit up — and so did social media. Fans immediately tied the moment back to the decades-old Nas vs. Jay-Z rivalry, proving the borough beef is alive and well.

    Roc Nation Fires Back

Jay-Z’s camp didn’t let the comment slide. Desiree Perez, president of Roc Nation, blasted the decision and voiced frustration with officials for turning down what she called a long-term opportunity for Brooklyn. She argued the Caesars Palace deal could have delivered major financial and cultural value to the borough.

Still, Queens is celebrating its win — and this one is bigger than hip hop shade.

    $5.5B Casino Will Transform Queens

If all goes as planned, the Resorts World project will secure its official gaming license by the end of the year. Backed by billions in investment, the development is expected to reshape Queens into a gambling destination rivaling Las Vegas-style casinos.

For Nas, the move is another notch in his business empire and a historic boost for his community. Aligning himself with such a massive project further cements his role not only as a rap legend but also as a hometown hero investing in the future of Queens.

Queens vs. Brooklyn: Who Really Won?

While the playful borough rivalry is driving headlines, insiders stress the true story is the scale of the investment. With Nas on board, Queens has secured one of the largest casino developments in New York history, while Jay-Z’s ambitious Brooklyn pitch falls flat.

One thing’s for sure: in the latest chapter of the Nas vs. Jay-Z saga, Queens just got the bragging rights.
