Rock music just lost one of its most iconic figures. Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist for KISS and legendary “Spaceman,” has died at the age of 74. TMZ confirms that Frehley passed away Thursday after being hospitalized and placed on life support, with his family making the heart-wrenching decision to turn off his ventilator.

A Tragic Accident Leads to His Death
Sources tell TMZ Ace suffered a severe brain bleed following a nasty fall in his recording studio just weeks ago. The accident left him hospitalized and in critical condition, ultimately leading to his passing. His death marks a sad milestone — Ace is the first original member of KISS to die.

The Rise of a Rock Icon
Ace Frehley’s name is synonymous with KISS, the band that redefined rock theatrics and stage persona in the 1970s. He joined forces with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss in 1973, becoming the “Spaceman” known for his soaring guitar riffs, cosmic stage persona, and unforgettable solos.

From the very start, Ace helped shape KISS’s sound with hits like “Detroit Rock City,” “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” and the anthemic “Rock and Roll All Nite.” His innovative style and flashy guitar work helped cement KISS’s legacy as one of rock’s most electrifying bands.

    Struggles and Solo Career
Despite his immense talent, Ace struggled with substance abuse and creative differences, leading him to leave KISS in 1982. But the rock world wasn’t done with him. He launched a solo career and formed the band Frehley’s Comet, a clever nod to his KISS nickname, “Spaceman.”

Frehley’s Comet saw success between 1984 and 1988, releasing albums and touring extensively before disbanding. Ace later reunited with KISS for the 1996 reunion tour, remaining with the band until 2002.

Solo Hits That Defined a Legacy
Beyond KISS, Ace left his mark as a solo artist. His covers of “Back in the New York Groove” and “Into the Night” became fan favorites, showcasing his signature style and distinct guitar tone. In 2014, Ace and his KISS bandmates were honored with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — a fitting tribute to their decades of influence on music.

Fans and Rockers Mourn the Loss
The news has sent shockwaves across the music world. Fans and fellow musicians are flooding social media with tributes, sharing memories of the man who brought cosmic energy, fire-breathing theatrics, and guitar wizardry to the stage.

    Remembering Ace Frehley
Ace Frehley wasn’t just a guitarist; he was a cultural icon. From the glam makeup to the pyrotechnics, from his unforgettable riffs to his solo ventures, Frehley defined an era of rock music that continues to inspire generations of fans.

At 74, Ace leaves behind a legacy of music, theatrics, and unforgettable performances. As the first original KISS member to pass, his death marks the end of an era for both the band and the fans who grew up with the “Spaceman” lighting up stages worldwide.

RIP, Ace Frehley — your music will live on forever.
