Nick Cannon is honoring the memory of his late son Zen on what would have been the child’s fifth birthday. The comedian, actor, and television personality reunited with coparent Alyssa Scott and family members to celebrate Zen’s life on June 23, marking the birthday milestone with a heartfelt gathering.

Zen passed away at just five months old after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Years later, Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott continue to remember their son publicly while keeping his memory alive through family tributes and moments of reflection.

Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott came together with their daughter Halo Marie and other loved ones for an intimate celebration honoring Zen’s birthday.

The family gathered at a beach while wearing white clothing and surrounded themselves with posters celebrating Zen’s life. The emotional remembrance later continued with a backyard ceremony, where they cut a cake in his honor.

Nick shared several photos from the gathering, giving fans a glimpse into the private family moment. Alongside the images, he referenced a Bible verse from 2 Corinthians 4:6 and wrote:

“Zen’s Light will forever shine in our hearts. We love you my son ❤️🕊️🙏🏾.”

The tribute focused on keeping Zen’s memory present rather than marking the day with sadness alone.

Zen was born to Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott and passed away in December 2021 at five months old. His death came after he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

Following Zen’s passing, Nick and Alyssa later welcomed their daughter Halo Marie in December 2022.

The tribute comes as Nick continues navigating life as a father of a large blended family. Over the years, he has welcomed children with multiple partners, including his former wife Mariah Carey, as well as Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott.

Nick shares 15-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah Carey and has publicly spoken about his family journey. He has previously indicated that he is likely done expanding his family.

Nick Cannon has often spoken about fatherhood as one of the most important parts of his life. His family has grown over several years, with his children born between 2011 and 2022.

His relationship with Alyssa Scott became part of a much larger public conversation after the loss of their son Zen. The two have continued to honor his memory while raising their daughter Halo.

Zen’s passing remains one of the most personal moments Nick has shared publicly. While the entertainer is known for his work in comedy, television, and music, he has also used his platform to discuss grief, family, and the impact of losing a child.

Celebrity family moments often draw public attention, but stories involving loss and remembrance carry a different emotional weight.

For Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott, honoring Zen’s birthday is a way to celebrate the life he had rather than only focusing on the time they lost.

The tribute also highlights how families continue to process grief over time. Major milestones, including birthdays and anniversaries, can become meaningful opportunities to reflect on loved ones who are no longer present.

Nick’s decision to share the moment publicly allows fans to see a more personal side of his life beyond entertainment headlines.
