The city of Philadelphia, famously known as the “City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection,” is gearing up to host one of the most anticipated music festivals of the year. LiveNation has officially announced that the legendary Roots Picnic will return in 2025, bringing a weekend of unforgettable performances to the historic Mann Center in Fairmount Park. The two-day festival will take place on May 31 and June 1, offering music fans a chance to experience top-tier talent and a celebration of diverse genres.

    Questlove’s Exciting Announcement

Questlove, the iconic drummer and co-founder of The Roots, took to Instagram to share the exciting news. “The 2025 Lineup courtesy from the good folks of @rootspicnic in the city of Philadelphia,” he posted, sharing his pride in bringing the festival back to his hometown. The announcement has set the stage for what promises to be one of the biggest events in the city’s cultural calendar next year.

    The Star-Studded Lineup

The 2025 Roots Picnic promises an electric mix of legendary artists and rising stars. Among the headliners is D’Angelo, who will take the stage for the first time in nine years, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his critically acclaimed album Voodoo. As one of the co-producers of the album, Questlove’s involvement adds a personal touch to this highly anticipated performance.

Other major acts slated to perform include rock icon Lenny Kravitz, hip-hop legends Meek Mill and Jeezy, rising stars like GloRilla and Latto, R&B sensation Miguel, and the Grammy-winning Tems. Fans can also look forward to sets from Kaytranada, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, and TrapKaraoke, among many others. Special performances by Ceelo Green and the Backyard Band will also keep the crowd moving with their high-energy tunes.

More Performers Still to Be Announced

Although the lineup is already impressive, the Roots Picnic team has teased that more performers will be announced in the coming months. The festival has a history of drawing major artists across genres, and 2025 looks to be no different, promising an eclectic mix of talent for every kind of music lover.

    Ticket Information

For those eager to secure their spot at this unmissable festival, pre-sale tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with general ticket sales kicking off on Friday at 10 a.m. Last year’s event sold out quickly, so fans are encouraged to act fast to grab their tickets before they’re gone.

    Last Year’s Unforgettable Experience

The Roots Picnic has become a staple in the Philadelphia music scene, and last year’s event was no exception. The festival featured show-stopping performances from artists like AndrĂ© 3000, Jill Scott, Gunna, Babyface, and Sexxy Red. It also hosted the Roots Picnic Experience, where The Roots took a deep dive into classic albums from the past, including Do You Want More?!!!??! by The Roots. The lineup also included special performances from Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, DJ Quik, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Goodie Mob, Raekwon, and Havoc of Mobb Deep, giving fans a true celebration of hip-hop history.

A Celebration of Philadelphia’s Rich Musical Legacy

As always, the Roots Picnic will honor the legacy of Philadelphia’s vibrant music scene, with The Roots themselves serving as the festival’s heart and soul. Over the years, the festival has grown into one of the most important events on the music calendar, drawing thousands of fans from across the country to enjoy the magic of live performances, exclusive collaborations, and a celebration of diverse genres and cultures.
