Chris Brown is pushing back against an attempt to redirect his tour income and royalties toward a nearly $13 million judgment owed to his former housekeeper.

Brown filed court documents objecting to Maria Avila‘s efforts to have his present and future income assigned to her until the judgment from her lawsuit is satisfied, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

The dispute could potentially affect money connected to Brown’s ongoing stadium tour with Usher, which includes performances scheduled from June through December.

Brown’s latest filing argues that Avila’s collection effort goes too far under the law.

And that puts his touring income squarely in the middle of the next phase of the legal fight.

Avila is attempting to collect on a judgment she won against Brown following a lawsuit stemming from a 2020 dog attack at the singer’s Los Angeles mansion.

According to the information provided, Avila sued Brown after claiming she was viciously attacked by a dog at the property and suffered severe injuries.

Brown denied wrongdoing and argued that Avila had provoked the dog.

The case ultimately went to trial, where a jury sided with Avila.

She was subsequently awarded a judgment approaching $13 million.

Now, the focus has shifted from the original allegations to how that judgment will be collected.

Avila previously went to court seeking to have Brown’s current and future income assigned to her, including money connected to his tour earnings and royalties, until the outstanding judgment is paid.

Her court filings reportedly argued that Brown had made no effort to satisfy the judgment, prompting her to pursue additional collection measures.

Brown is now objecting to that strategy.

In his latest court filing, the singer argues that Avila’s attempt to capture all of his present and future income is overly broad and exceeds what she is legally entitled to collect.

That does not erase the judgment against him. Instead, the latest dispute centers on the scope of Avila’s efforts to enforce it.

    The distinction is significant.

A jury has already ruled in Avila’s favor in the underlying case, but Brown’s new filing challenges the method being used to pursue the money.

At the center of that fight is Brown’s income as he continues performing.

Brown and Usher are currently in the middle of a nationwide stadium tour featuring 33 performances scheduled between June and December.

That touring schedule makes the question of whether and how Brown’s earnings can be targeted especially relevant.

For now, Brown is asking the court to reject what he describes as an excessively broad attempt to reach his income.

The legal battle traces back to an incident at Brown’s Los Angeles mansion in 2020.

Avila, who worked as Brown’s housekeeper, alleged that she was seriously injured during a dog attack at the property.

Brown disputed her account and claimed Avila had provoked the animal.

The disagreement eventually became a civil lawsuit, and the case proceeded to trial.

A jury ultimately sided with Avila, resulting in the nearly $13 million judgment now at the center of the collection dispute.

Avila’s latest efforts represent a different stage of the case. Rather than determining liability for the original incident, the current dispute concerns enforcement of the financial judgment.

According to the information provided, Avila is seeking access to Brown’s present and future income, including tour-related earnings and royalties.

Brown argues that the request is too expansive.

The dispute highlights the difference between winning a civil judgment and collecting it.

Avila has already obtained a jury verdict in her favor and a substantial financial judgment. The current legal fight is about what assets and income can be reached to satisfy that judgment.

Brown’s objection could therefore have implications for how much of his income can be targeted through the collection process.

His ongoing work with Usher adds another major financial stream to the conversation.

With dozens of stadium performances scheduled through December, Brown has substantial touring activity underway while the collection dispute continues.

The court will ultimately determine what collection measures are permissible.

The case also reflects the long aftermath that can follow a major civil judgment.

For Avila, the focus has shifted from proving her claims at trial to obtaining the money awarded to her.

For Brown, the latest filing shows that the legal battle did not end with the jury’s verdict. He is now challenging the scope of the effort to collect the judgment from his income.

Both sides are therefore still fighting in court, although the question has changed from what happened at Brown’s home to how the resulting judgment can be enforced.

Chris Brown is challenging the breadth of Maria Avila’s collection efforts as his stadium tour with Usher continues, putting his touring income and royalties at the center of the latest legal dispute.
