Michael Lohan Faces Protective Order After Alleged Assault on Estranged Wife

Michael Lohan, father of actress Lindsay Lohan, is facing more legal trouble following his recent arrest for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife, Kate Major. A judge has issued an emergency protective order against him, but Lohan’s attorney is strongly pushing back against the allegations.

Judge Issues Emergency Protective Order

On Monday, a judge signed a protective order requiring Lohan to refrain from assaulting, threatening, or harassing Kate. According to court documents, he is also barred from coming within 200 feet of her workplace, regardless of whether he is armed.

This order comes just days after Lohan’s arrest in Harris County, Texas, where he was charged with continuous violence against the family, a felony assault charge.

Incident Leading to Arrest

The alleged incident occurred on Friday when Lohan showed up in the parking lot of a building where Kate was undergoing a mammogram. Fearing that he was following her, Kate called the police.

When officers arrived, Kate told them that Lohan had flipped her out of a chair at their home days earlier. Based on her report, authorities arrested him on felony charges.

Lohan’s Attorney Calls Allegations ‘Suspicious’

Michael’s attorney, Andino Reynal, is strongly denying the accusations, claiming Kate has a history of legal troubles, including multiple DUI arrests and at least three DUI convictions.

Reynal alleges that Lohan had been trying to help Kate overcome her alcohol issues for the sake of their two children. He claims that when it became clear she wasn’t willing to quit drinking, Lohan asked her to move out of the guest house where she had been staying—after which these allegations surfaced.

“The timing of Kate’s accusations is suspicious,” Reynal told TMZ, adding that he believes Michael will ultimately be cleared by a grand jury due to a lack of probable cause.

A Troubled History

Lohan and Major, once a highly publicized couple, have had a tumultuous relationship marked by legal issues and domestic disputes. Their latest clash has reignited concerns over their troubled past, with both sides painting a vastly different picture of the situation.

As the case unfolds, Lohan remains firm in his denial of wrongdoing, while the protective order ensures he keeps his distance from Kate for the foreseeable future.
