Lil Durk has been found not guilty on all five charges in his federal murder-for-hire case, bringing a major legal battle to an end.
After three days of deliberations, a jury returned not guilty verdicts regarding Lil Durk’s alleged involvement in a fatal 2022 shooting in Los Angeles.
The case centered on an alleged plot targeting rival rapper Quando Rondo that prosecutors said ultimately killed his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Prosecutors argued that Lil Durk hired a hit team to kill Quando as retaliation for the 2020 murder of his close friend, rapper Dayvon “King Von” Bennett, who was killed outside an Atlanta nightclub.
According to prosecutors, gunmen opened fire on Quando’s black Escalade outside the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, firing 18 shots. Robinson was struck and killed.
But Lil Durk’s defense presented a different version of events.
His attorneys argued that his former assistant, Kavon Grant, was actually behind the alleged plot to target Quando Rondo, claiming Grant ordered the attack in an effort to impress his boss.
The jury ultimately rejected the prosecution’s case and cleared Lil Durk on every count.
Lil Durk was charged alongside two other defendants and faced five charges, including conspiracy, stalking using a dangerous weapon, stalking resulting in death and two counts related to murder-for-hire.
After the verdict, Lil Durk’s supporters celebrated the rapper’s acquittal.
The verdict marks a dramatic conclusion to a case that placed one of hip-hop’s biggest names at the center of a deadly shooting investigation.
With jurors finding him not guilty on all five charges, Lil Durk walks away from the case without a conviction.
