Lil Durk is turning a major legal moment into a message for the next generation.
Days after a federal jury in Los Angeles acquitted the Chicago rapper of all charges in his murder-for-hire case, Durk took to social media with a message urging young people to make choices that can change the direction of their lives.
Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, shared a video highlighting his community work and addressed young fans directly.
“To the youth, I need y’all to hear me,” he wrote.
The rapper reflected on periods in his own life when he felt lost and said he understands how heavily a person’s surroundings can influence their thinking, decisions and expectations for the future.
“There were times in my life when I felt lost and couldn’t see beyond what was right in front of me,” Durk said.
He acknowledged that environment can shape how young people see themselves and their possibilities, but stressed that circumstances do not have to determine who someone ultimately becomes.
“Growth is real, and it’s never too late to choose a different direction,” he wrote.

Durk also connected the message to his ongoing community work through Neighborhood Heroes, an organization focused on creating opportunities for underserved communities. Its initiatives have included career and college-readiness programs and other efforts aimed at young people.
“My responsibility is to use my voice and my platform to build, motivate, and create more opportunities for the next generation,” Durk said.
The message comes immediately after one of the biggest legal developments of his career.
On Sept. 11, a federal jury in Los Angeles found Durk not guilty on all five charges in a case stemming from a 2022 shooting that prosecutors alleged was an attempt to target rapper Quando Rondo. The shooting instead resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Prosecutors had alleged that Durk orchestrated the plot as retaliation for the 2020 killing of his friend and fellow rapper King Von. Durk’s defense disputed the allegations, and the jury ultimately acquitted him on all charges in that case.
The acquittal, however, did not result in his release from federal custody. Durk remains detained while awaiting a separate federal trial involving racketeering and weapons offenses, currently scheduled for Oct. 5.
Still, Durk’s latest message focuses less on the courtroom and more on what comes next.
“Choose your future. Choose your family. Choose growth. I’m standing with y’all. We’re moving forward with purpose,” he said.
For Durk, the message is ultimately about using his experiences — and his platform — to encourage young people to believe that their circumstances do not have to define their future.
