Yella Beezy’s capital murder trial is getting pushed back.
A Dallas judge has granted the rapper’s request for additional preparation time, moving jury selection from Monday to Oct. 26, 2026.
Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, had been scheduled to begin the jury-selection process this week. Judge Chika Anyiam granted Conway’s motion for continuance, with the new order filed with the Dallas County Clerk on Monday, Sept. 14.
The case stems from the 2020 killing of Dallas rapper MO3, whose real name was Melvin Noble.
Prosecutors allege Conway arranged Noble’s killing by hiring Kewon White. According to the prosecution’s case, the alleged murder was connected to a longstanding dispute between the two rappers.
Noble was fatally shot during an ambush on Interstate 35 in Dallas in November 2020. He was 28 years old.
White was convicted of capital murder earlier this month and sentenced to life in prison. Conway’s defense team has requested a transcript from White’s trial as it prepares for Conway’s own case.
Defense attorneys previously told the court that several expert witnesses were unavailable during the original trial period. The court reporter is also expected to need about 30 days to complete White’s trial transcript.
Conway’s attorneys requested two additional weeks to review the transcript, and prosecutors agreed to the continuance. The parties also plan to work with the court on scheduling federal witnesses whose availability could affect the proceedings.
Conway has pleaded not guilty and denied involvement in Noble’s death. The allegations against him remain unproven unless prosecutors establish his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
Conway is represented by attorneys Toby Shook, Michael Mowla and John Gussio. Dallas County prosecutors Tommy Adams, Ricardo Vela and Sharonda Davis are representing the state.
Another defendant, Devin Brown, also faces a capital murder charge connected to Noble’s death.
The new October date gives Conway’s defense team additional time to review White’s testimony, prepare expert witnesses and address scheduling issues before proceedings begin.
For now, jury selection in Yella Beezy’s capital murder case is scheduled to begin Oct. 26 in Dallas.
