Kevin Liles Responds to Sexual Assault Lawsuit: Denies Allegations and Vows Legal Action

Music industry mogul Kevin Liles has responded vehemently to a new sexual assault lawsuit filed against him, calling the claims “outrageous” and vowing to clear his name. In an exclusive statement to TMZ Hip Hop, Liles denied the accusations made by an anonymous woman who claims he sexually harassed and assaulted her during his time at Def Jam Recordings.

The lawsuit, which was filed by the woman under the pseudonym Jane Doe, alleges that Liles subjected her to repeated harassment from 2000 to 2002, including inappropriate physical contact such as pressing his body against her breasts and grabbing her buttocks. The woman claims she rejected his advances multiple times, but Liles ultimately raped her in 2002.

Liles, who served as an executive at Def Jam during the years the alleged incidents occurred, strongly refuted these allegations. “I absolutely deny the outrageous claims reported in the press this evening,” Liles said. “I wish I could share a more detailed response to this slander, but this is the first I’ve heard of this claim, and the anonymous accuser’s attorney shared the lawsuit with gossip influencers and media outlets before it was even posted by the court, so my attorneys and I have not seen the actual lawsuit.”

The legendary hip-hop executive continued by defending his character and work in the industry, emphasizing his commitment to empowering women. “After nearly 40 years of service to our culture, I’ve intentionally built a reputation for doing things the right way, treating people the right way, and empowering women. It is a shameful reality that these lies spread so freely,” Liles stated.

Liles vowed to take legal action against the accuser and her attorney, stating that once he clears his name, he plans to file a defamation lawsuit against them. “My attorneys and I will fully clear my name, and when we are successful, this anonymous accuser and her attorney will face a defamation lawsuit and every other available legal consequence,” Liles said.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Liles expressed that this legal battle would not derail his mission. “These allegations will not derail my mission to be of service to our community, and focus on the greater good and greater God,” he said.

    Details of the Lawsuit
According to the lawsuit, the woman began working at Def Jam in 1999, where she claims Liles made repeated sexual advances toward her over the course of three years. The suit alleges that, despite her attempts to reject him, Liles escalated his behavior, leading to the alleged assault in 2002.

Kevin Liles had a significant career at Def Jam before transitioning to a senior role at Warner Music Group, where he resigned in September 2023. His name had previously been involved in public controversies, but he had not faced any legal challenges of this magnitude until now.

As the lawsuit unfolds, both Liles and his legal team are preparing to fight the allegations and seek legal redress for what they claim is defamation.

A Continued Legacy in the Music Industry
Liles has been a towering figure in the music industry for decades, having played an influential role at Def Jam and later at Warner Music. His contributions to the hip-hop and music culture have left a lasting legacy, and he remains a key figure in the community.

While Liles faces a legal battle, his supporters and industry peers will undoubtedly be watching as the case progresses.

    Ongoing Legal Proceedings
As of now, the legal process is in its early stages. With both sides preparing their cases, the truth behind the allegations may take some time to surface. For now, Liles remains focused on defending his name and continuing his work in the music industry.
