Simone Biles has revealed that three masked men broke into her Chicago residence and stole her Porsche, turning what should have been a routine stretch of her final months in the city into a frightening ordeal.
The Olympic gymnastics icon shared the revelation in a TikTok video while shopping for a replacement vehicle. Biles said she was looking for a new car after the theft, although police eventually recovered the stolen Porsche.
“I feel like I need a new car because during our last few months in Chicago, three men in masks came to our house and stole my Porsche,” Biles said during the “get ready with me” video.
She did not provide additional details about when the break-in occurred, how the men entered the residence or whether anyone was inside when the incident happened.
Biles suggested she could share more about the incident in a future “story time,” leaving much of what happened during the alleged home invasion undisclosed for now.
The theft nevertheless appears to have changed how the Olympic champion approaches security at home. Biles said the experience was one reason she and her household got a Doberman.
“I feel like I need a reality TV show,” she said, describing the events in her life as “absolutely insanity.”
Despite the theft, there was eventually some good news: the Porsche was recovered.
“Yes, we recovered the car, onto the next,” Biles wrote in her caption.
She has also been looking for another vehicle. During her shopping trip, Biles test-drove an Audi but quickly decided it was not the right fit.
“We went to go look at the car, and I test-drove it, and I was like, ‘Oo, this car is really muscle-y,’” she said. “I didn’t like the way it drove, and I’m not about to manhandle a car.”
The search took her back to Porsche, where she found a Cayenne GTS that immediately caught her attention.
“We went over to Porsche. They had a Cayenne GTS, and baby, when they turned that thing on, I was sold,” Biles recalled. She compared her reaction to Tiffany Haddish’s character in Girls Trip, quoting the character’s enthusiastic demand for the car.
The revelation comes as Biles prepares for a move to Indianapolis. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, recently signed a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, and Biles told PEOPLE that she plans to officially relocate there later.
“I’ve been in Houston most of the time, so I’m going to officially move there [to Indianapolis] a little bit later,” she said.
For Biles, the Chicago chapter appears to be ending with a recovered Porsche, a new security measure—and a very specific idea of what she wants behind the wheel next.
