Jamie Foxx is getting ready to return to the school drop-off line — this time at 58.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday, Foxx revealed that he has a baby on the way while reflecting on becoming a father again later in life.
“I got a baby on the way … still got it,” Foxx joked.
The actor then laughed about the reality of being back in the parenting routine.
“About to be back in the drop-off line,” he said, before acknowledging his age. “I wasn’t on the fence about it, but being 58 … you know what I’m saying?”
Foxx is already a father to two daughters, Corinne, whom he shares with ex Connie Kline, and Anelise, whose mother is Kristin Grannis.
During the interview, Foxx explained that a conversation with Al Pacino helped put fatherhood at an older age into perspective.
Foxx recalled running into Pacino and asking how he was doing. According to Foxx, Pacino told him he had been worried about him before revealing that he was having a baby.
Foxx said he asked Pacino how old he was and recalled Pacino answering 84.
That led to a joke about both actors potentially being much older when their children reach school age.
Pacino responded with the famous line, “Every time I get out, they pull me back in.”
Foxx also joked with Kimmel about what his age could look like when his new child reaches their teenage years.
“I even tell my girl, I said, ‘Look, just hang in there for 12 years,'” Foxx said. “If I’m 58, 12 years I’ll be 70 … you’ll just put a blanket over my thighs, give me some tapioca pudding…”
Behind the jokes, Foxx also spoke about how grateful he is to be alive following the medical emergency he experienced in 2023.
“I’m feeling fantastic,” he said. “I went through some stuff; I didn’t know if I was gonna be back here.”
Foxx became emotional while discussing his return to performing and appearing in front of audiences.
“I cry easily, and I’m crying right now, because I didn’t think I’d see all these beautiful people [again],” he said.
He added that his daughters sometimes tell him he is “too grateful,” but Foxx explained why his outlook has changed.
“Sometimes my daughter says I’m too grateful, because I mean I almost died, so I’m just so thankful for everything,” he said.
Now, with another child on the way, Foxx appears to be entering another major chapter of his life — one he’s already joking about surviving one school drop-off at a time.
