Too $hort is already making plans for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ eventual release from prison — and the West Coast rap veteran says he intends to be at the welcome-home party.
The hip-hop legend made the declaration during an appearance on The TMZ Podcast while promoting his latest album, Sir Too $hort Vol. 2.
“I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party,” Too $hort told host Towanda Robinson.
Combs is currently serving his federal sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, with his projected release date reportedly moved up to January 21, 2028.
Too $hort’s support comes with a notable caveat. The rapper said he condemned the violence shown in 2016 hotel surveillance footage involving singer Cassie Ventura.
“I judge him for that,” Too $hort said of the footage.
At the same time, Too $hort distinguished that incident from what he described as his own experiences around Combs, which he characterized as involving music, parties, marijuana and social gatherings.
The rapper also questioned whether Combs should remain incarcerated for the conduct behind his federal conviction. A jury convicted Combs on two prostitution-related counts while acquitting him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

But Too $hort’s comments went beyond whether Combs should remain behind bars. He also offered advice about what the mogul should do after his release.
Rather than immediately attempting a major entertainment comeback, Too $hort pointed to comedian and actor Bill Cosby’s post-prison return as a cautionary example and suggested Combs take a quieter path.
His idea? Move to Bali and spend time with fellow hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.
That advice comes as Combs faces a very different public landscape from the one he occupied before his federal case. His conviction and the surrounding allegations have dramatically reshaped the conversation around his career and legacy.
For Too $hort, though, the immediate plan appears much simpler: celebrate when Combs gets home.
“I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party,” he reiterated.
