Former rapper Solé has announced that her nine-year marriage to Public Enemy member Professor Griff has come to an end, revealing the separation in a deeply spiritual message to her followers.
Solé shared the news Sunday, October 5, in an Instagram post featuring a photo of herself in a red dress. She did not disclose what led to the end of the marriage, instead describing the split as the completion of a significant chapter in both of their lives.
“After completing a 9 year cycle together, my marriage to Prof. Griff has come to the completion of its sacred season,” Solé wrote.
Rather than frame the announcement around conflict, Solé reflected on the relationship with gratitude, acknowledging the experiences and lessons they shared during their time together.
“With a heart full of gratitude, I bow to and honor all that was shared and created and learned along the way,” she added.
Solé also used the post to explain her view that some relationships are not necessarily meant to remain in the same form forever.
“Sometimes we are meant to walk beside one another for an earthly lifetime and other times we are preparing one another for the next expression of our journey in this realm as we walk our separate ways towards our own dharma,” she wrote.
Referencing the Tantric path, Solé described life as an ongoing process of change and encouraged an approach centered on presence, truth and an open heart.
She further emphasized that respecting a relationship’s history does not require maintaining it exactly as it was.
“Always honor what was without needing it to remain in the same form it once took,” Solé wrote.
The former couple, she said, are now moving forward separately while maintaining “deep respect, care and blessings for one another.”
Solé also thanked supporters who had followed their relationship and expressed appreciation for the love they had received over the years.
“We are grateful for the love and support so many of you have shared with us over the years and kindly ask for your prayers as we embrace this new chapter,” she wrote.
Solé and Professor Griff married in 2017, making the announcement of their separation after nine years together. Solé’s statement does not provide details about divorce proceedings or the circumstances that led to the marriage ending.
For now, her message makes one thing clear: the couple is closing one chapter and moving forward on separate paths.
