Diddy Seeks Sanctions Against Woman Who Sued Him

Sean "Diddy" Combs is asking a federal judge to sanction Grace O’Marcaigh and her attorneys, arguing an amended complaint repeated claims the court had already rejected.

Diddy Requests Sanctions Against Plaintiff in Lawsuit, Calling Case Baseless

Sean “Diddy” Combs is pushing back against one of the lawsuits filed against him, asking a federal judge to penalize the woman who sued him and her legal team over what his attorneys describe as a repeated and meritless complaint.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Diddy is requesting sanctions against Grace O’Marcaigh and her attorneys, arguing that an amended complaint filed against him did not address issues previously raised by the court.

The request comes as the legal battle continues over allegations connected to a 2022 yacht incident involving Diddy’s son, Christian “King” Combs.

    Diddy has denied the allegations.

Diddy Claims Amended Complaint Repeated Rejected Arguments

In the filing, Diddy’s legal team argues that O’Marcaigh’s amended complaint simply repackaged arguments that had already been rejected by the court.

His attorneys claim a judge previously ruled that California courts did not have personal jurisdiction over him in the case.

They argue that instead of correcting the problems identified in that ruling, the amended filing repeated similar jurisdictional claims, forcing Diddy to continue spending money defending what they call a meritless lawsuit.

Diddy is asking the court to impose sanctions, including payment of attorneys’ fees and legal costs.

The request is now before the judge, who has not ruled on the sanctions issue.

    Plaintiff’s Lawyers Push Back

O’Marcaigh’s attorneys disagree with Diddy’s characterization of the amended complaint.

According to letters attached to the court filing, her legal team argues that the updated complaint included new allegations they believe establish a connection between Diddy and California through the yacht charter involved in the lawsuit.

They also argue that the court allowed them to amend the complaint and maintain that Diddy’s sanctions request has no legal basis.

The competing arguments highlight the ongoing dispute between both sides over whether the case can proceed in California.

The Lawsuit Against Diddy and Christian Combs

O’Marcaigh previously sued Diddy and his son, Christian “King” Combs, over an alleged incident that she says occurred aboard a yacht in the Caribbean in 2022.

According to the lawsuit, O’Marcaigh alleges Christian Combs sexually assaulted her while she was working as a steward on the vessel.

She also alleges that Sean Combs bears civil responsibility for what she claims occurred.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Sean Combs has denied the claims.

    Why the Legal Dispute Matters

The latest filing focuses on a procedural issue that frequently plays a major role in civil lawsuits: whether a court has the authority to hear a case involving a particular defendant.

Personal jurisdiction disputes can determine whether a lawsuit moves forward in a specific location or whether additional legal steps are required before a case can proceed.

For Diddy, the sanctions request represents an attempt to shift pressure back onto the plaintiff and her legal team.

For O’Marcaigh, her attorneys argue that the amended complaint addressed the court’s concerns and should be allowed to continue.

The legal fight is another chapter in the series of civil claims involving Diddy, who has faced multiple lawsuits and investigations in recent years.

As with all active legal matters, allegations made in court filings remain claims unless proven through the legal process.

The judge’s decision on Diddy’s sanctions request could determine the next step in this particular lawsuit as both sides continue their arguments.
