Tracy Morgan is making his highly anticipated return to NBC, teaming up with long-time collaborator Tina Fey for a brand-new comedy series. The two 30 Rock and SNL alums are joining forces once again, with Fey set to executive produce Morgan’s latest project, “Crutch.”

According to a newly released press statement, the upcoming half-hour sitcom will follow a Harlem widower whose plans for an empty nest are turned upside down when his millennial son and free-spirited daughter unexpectedly move back home. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

    A Powerhouse Team Behind ‘Crutch’

Fey is not alone in producing this new project. She is joined by fellow 30 Rock veterans Robert Carlock and Sam Means, ensuring the show is backed by a team with a proven track record of comedy excellence.

Morgan and Fey’s comedic chemistry dates back to their time on Saturday Night Live, where Morgan was a cast member from 1996 to 2003, and Fey was both a writer and cast member from 1997 to 2006. Their on-screen partnership flourished when they co-starred in the Emmy-winning sitcom 30 Rock, which ran for seven seasons (2006-2013) on NBC.

    Tracy Morgan’s TV Comeback

Morgan is no stranger to leading hit television comedies. His last major series, The Last OG, aired on TBS from 2018 to 2022 and ran for four successful seasons. Now, with Crutch, he’s poised to bring his signature humor back to network TV.

Interestingly, “Crutch” is not the only project on Morgan’s plate. Last year, it was announced that he would also star in a Paramount spinoff of CBS’ hit series The Neighborhood, where he will portray a cousin to Cedric the Entertainer’s character, Calvin Butler. Thanks to his current deal, Morgan will have the flexibility to appear in both shows.

Tracy Morgan Reflects on His Journey

Morgan recently attended SNL50: The Red Carpet Special, where he expressed gratitude for being part of the legendary sketch show’s 50th-anniversary celebration. Reflecting on his near-fatal car accident in 2014, he shared,

“This is incredible. Just thank the Lord that I’m a part of this, that I survived the accident and I’m alive to be here for this.”

With his triumphant return to NBC and a new collaboration with Tina Fey, Morgan is set to make a major impact on television once again. Fans can look forward to Crutch’s premiere in 2025, where Morgan’s signature comedic style will take center stage once more.
