“Octomom” Nadya Suleman Reveals Her One Regret: Not Suing Her Fertility Doctor

Nadya Suleman, famously known as “Octomom” after giving birth to the world’s first healthy set of octuplets in 2009, is reflecting on her journey—and says she has only one major regret.

In a recent interview with People, Suleman revealed that she wishes she had taken legal action against her fertility doctor, Dr. Michael Kamrava. She initially sought to have just one more child but claims Kamrava told her he implanted six embryos—when in reality, he implanted 12. This led to the highly publicized birth of her octuplets. Kamrava later lost his medical license due to ethical violations.

Suleman, now a mother of 14, shared that her desire for a large family stemmed from her lonely upbringing as an only child. “I may have possibly overachieved with kids. I didn’t intend on having this many,” she admitted.

At the time of her octuplets’ birth, she was financially struggling and had to appeal to the public for assistance. Looking back, she now regrets not suing Kamrava. “I definitely regret that because his insurance would’ve been the one paying, and it would’ve been some millions, and it would’ve been helpful for my family,” she stated.

Despite this, Suleman expressed some gratitude toward Kamrava and instead took legal action against the hospital for breaching HIPAA regulations after staff leaked her medical information.

Suleman’s story will be revisited in two upcoming Lifetime specials—“I Was Octomom” and “Confessions of Octomom”, premiering this Saturday and next Monday, respectively.
