In a surprising twist, Harlem rapper Ma$e has revealed that his highly anticipated album, his first in more than two decades, is set to drop on May 25—coincidentally, the same day that Diddy’s much-publicized sex trafficking trial begins. The rapper made the announcement during an appearance on It Is What It Is, casually slipping the news into a conversation as he discussed his upcoming music.

“I’m listening to the songs that [Cam’ron] picked out of the stuff I made… It’s gonna be crazy. We had to pick the right records. I let him pick the right records,” Ma$e said while discussing his musical comeback. When co-host Maurice Clarett pressed him about the album’s release, Ma$e responded with a knowing smirk, adding, “May 25th. The first day of the Diddy trial. We’re dropping. You like that? You made me put it out there.”

To add to the excitement, Ma$e also revealed that his new album would span three discs, telling fans, “Now we even,” likely referencing his long history with Diddy and the fallout from their complicated relationship.

Timing of the Release: A Bold Statement?

The timing of the album release coinciding with Diddy’s trial is certainly no accident. While the trial is set to begin on May 5, Ma$e’s decision to align his comeback with the legal drama unfolding around his former mentor raises eyebrows. For Ma$e, this isn’t his first playful jab at Diddy amid the rapper’s mounting legal troubles. Following a series of raids on Diddy’s properties by federal agents last year—part of an investigation into sex trafficking and racketeering charges—Ma$e appeared to take pleasure in the fallout. “Reparations is getting closer and closer!” he quipped during a previous episode of It Is What It Is, referring to the unfolding scandal with a tone of sarcasm.

Cam’ron, Ma$e’s co-host, also pointed out the eerie timing of the raids, which occurred on the 27th anniversary of Biggie’s Life After Death album release. “It’s amazing that all of this would transpire on that day. That’s eerie, man! That’s crazy,” Ma$e responded, further underlining the strange and poetic timing of it all.

Ma$e Teases More Revelations in Upcoming Documentary

While Ma$e has kept relatively quiet on the specifics of Diddy’s ongoing legal troubles, he’s hinted that there’s more to come. In a later segment, he teased that he’s saving his most personal thoughts and revelations about his former collaborator for an upcoming documentary. “I’m saving my takes for the documentary,” he said, suggesting that fans can expect to hear more about his complicated relationship with Diddy soon. “If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon—pause.”

As Ma$e gears up to release his new album, it’s clear that the timing isn’t just about music—it’s about sending a message. With his controversial history with Diddy and the unfolding legal drama surrounding his former mentor, Ma$e’s comeback could be more than just a musical statement; it could be his way of reasserting his own narrative.

    What’s Next for Ma$e?

With the album’s release date and the documentary on the horizon, Ma$e’s fans are eagerly awaiting his next moves. Will the timing of the album release continue to be a topic of discussion, or will the music itself steal the spotlight? As the legal drama surrounding Diddy intensifies, Ma$e’s return to the scene promises to be filled with drama, revelations, and a potentially explosive mix of personal and professional stakes.
