Iman Shumpert is firmly rejecting accusations made by Teyana Taylor regarding the leaking of private details from their messy divorce. The former NBA player’s lawyer, Stephen C. Steele, issued a statement to TMZ Sports on Wednesday, asserting that Shumpert had no involvement in disclosing sensitive information to the public about the end of his marriage to the R&B singer.
Shumpert’s Firm Denial of Media Leak
According to Steele, Shumpert vehemently denies any claims that he provided media outlets with information to stir public interest in his new rap music. Steele emphasized that Shumpert has “never whatsoever leaked any allegations or claims stated in any of the pleadings” related to the Taylor/Shumpert divorce case.
The statement continued, saying, “Mr. Shumpert adamantly denies that he has provided any information to any media”, specifically addressing the recent news reports that came out prior to their divorce trial.
Teyana Taylor’s Allegations and Court Request
Teyana Taylor had previously alleged in court documents that Shumpert was behind the leaked information, which she claimed mischaracterized the reasons for their divorce. In response to these accusations, Taylor went a step further, requesting that the judge in their case sentence Shumpert to 20 days in jail, in addition to imposing fines.
Despite these allegations, Steele remained adamant in defending his client, repeatedly stating that Shumpert had committed no wrongdoing.

Shumpert’s lawyer further clarified that, as part of the divorce proceedings, the couple had agreed to keep the details of the case sealed, with both parties bound by the court’s orders. “He has absolutely no interest in discussing any of these private and personal details with any media or any parties not directly involved with this case,” Steele added.
