Drill rappers Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G are proving that the genre can sustain careers, even if hip-hop legend Jadakiss doesn’t agree. TMZ Hip Hop caught up with the Winners Circle duo at The Million Dollar Giveback: Hip Hop Holiday event in NYC, where they shared their thoughts on Jada’s controversial comments about drill music.

Jadakiss’ Drill Music Take

In case you missed it, Jadakiss recently dismissed the entire drill movement during an interview, with his son Jaewon laughing along. Despite the harsh critique, Sleepy and Sheff took the commentary in stride.

“Jada’s opinion is valid,” Sheff G said, “but that doesn’t mean we’re stopping our wave.” Sleepy Hallow, a self-proclaimed drill rapper through and through, echoed the sentiment, reaffirming his commitment to the genre.

New Music & A Joint Album

The Brooklyn duo’s solo albums are already racking up streams, but fans have even more to look forward to. Sleepy and Sheff revealed they’re working on a joint album, which they promise will deliver big hits.

With multiple plaques already earned as collaborators, their joint project is shaping up to be a bombshell release for drill music fans.

Don Q & Fat Joe’s Views on 2024 Rap Scene

Don Q, who also attended the giveback event, chimed in on Jadakiss’ comments, acknowledging that musical tastes often differ across generations. “Different strokes for different folks,” he said, highlighting how varying eras in hip-hop shape perspectives.

Don also weighed in on Fat Joe’s recent claim that 2024 is the worst year in rap history. Between legal scandals, high-profile rapper deaths, and ongoing beefs, Don admitted the cultural toll has been heavy. However, he emphasized that it’s all about how you spin the narrative, suggesting there’s still potential for redemption.

Looking Ahead

While criticisms of drill music persist, Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G are determined to keep pushing the genre forward. With new music on the horizon and a joint album in the works, their dedication to drill is clear—and their growing fanbase is here for it.
