Drake surprised fans during his recent Drizzmas Giveaway livestream with Adin Ross by quoting a line from Kendrick Lamar, fueling chatter about their ongoing dynamic. While engaging with fans and showing love to collaborators like Young Thug, Future, Tory Lanez, and Sexyy Red, Drake had a special shoutout for the rising star.

“She is me!” Drake said while talking about Sexyy Red. “She’ll be like, ‘Man, I’m always with you, man. I just be thinking about you, man.’… Shoutout to Sexyy!” In a playful moment, he then referenced Kendrick Lamar’s track Euphoria, reciting, “When I see her, I see two bad ones, n*, what’s up?” and laughing as he added, “F what y’all talking ’bout… Shoutout Sexyy. W Sexyy in the chat.”

Drake’s Lawsuit Against UMG and the Kendrick Lamar Connection

The livestream came amidst Drake’s ongoing legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify. As previously reported, Drake filed a lawsuit accusing UMG of defamation for allegedly facilitating the release of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, Not Like Us.

According to court documents, Drake alleges that UMG “designed, financed, and executed a plan to turn Not Like Us into a viral mega-hit.” The track, reportedly, contains false accusations that Drake is a sex offender, a claim that Drake’s team vehemently denies.

50 Cent Weighs In

While discussing the lawsuit with Cam’ron on the Talk With Flee YouTube show, 50 Cent offered his perspective, speculating that the legal action might be tied to the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.

“I’ve never seen a rap battle end up in court,” 50 said. “But I think Drake’s team is trying to stop the Super Bowl from causing more damage. If you sue Apple and UMG, both tied to the music at the Super Bowl, they’re already caught up defending themselves.”

Kendrick Lamar is rumored to be part of the Super Bowl lineup, and speculation is growing over whether Not Like Us might make an appearance.

Fans React

Drake’s livestream shoutout to Kendrick’s lyrics sparked mixed reactions from fans, some interpreting it as a nod to the rapper despite their legal tension, while others saw it as trolling. The lawsuit and its implications have added a layer of intrigue to their complicated relationship, with many wondering how it will unfold leading into the Super Bowl.

For now, fans are left dissecting the moves of two of hip-hop’s biggest stars, both in and out of the courtroom.
