Celtics vs. Knicks Game Sparks Chaos: Wild Fan Brawl Erupts Outside TD Garden After Stunning NY Comeback

The NBA playoff drama between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks went far beyond the hardwood on Wednesday night. Following the Knicks’ thrilling 91-90 comeback win at TD Garden, tensions spilled over into the streets of Boston — with a full-blown fan brawl erupting outside the arena.

Caught on Camera: Punches Thrown in Postgame Chaos

In video footage that’s now circulating on social media, groups of Celtics and Knicks fans were seen trading punches just outside TD Garden shortly after the final buzzer. The heated confrontation escalated quickly, turning into a chaotic melee involving multiple individuals dressed in their teams’ colors.

One man, notably wearing a Paul Pierce jersey, was captured landing a series of punches on a Knicks supporter, leaving the latter visibly bloodied. Meanwhile, another scuffle saw a Knicks fan in a Jalen Brunson jersey struggling to hold his own against a Celtics diehard.

Security was overwhelmed at first, but Boston Police eventually rushed in to break up the fight, managing to de-escalate the situation before it spiraled further out of control. At least one individual was seen being placed in handcuffs, though it’s currently unclear how many, if any, formal arrests were made. Authorities have yet to provide an official statement despite inquiries.

Not Just Outside: Knicks Fans Take Over TD Garden

The high-stakes drama wasn’t exclusive to the street fight. Inside the arena, Knicks fans took full advantage of their team’s victory, loudly chanting and refusing to leave their seats well after the game ended. Security personnel were seen urging the visiting fans to exit, but many ignored repeated pleas — turning what was supposed to be a respectful wind-down into an extended celebration and display of rivalry.

To make matters worse for Boston faithful, a live Celtics postgame show being filmed in a TD Garden concourse was bombarded by a barrage of obscenities from Knicks fans, drowning out the analysts’ commentary and adding insult to injury after the gut-wrenching loss.

“It was like they [Knicks fans] thought they owned the building,” one Celtics season ticket holder told local media. “We get it — you won, but this is Boston. You don’t disrespect the house like that.”

High Emotions After Another Knicks Road Comeback

The Knicks’ latest victory marked yet another come-from-behind performance on the road, solidifying their reputation as one of the grittiest teams in the postseason. Led by Jalen Brunson and bolstered by their tenacious defense, New York has shocked analysts and fans alike by out-hustling the top-seeded Celtics on their home court — not once, but twice.

Emotions were understandably running high — both in celebration and in frustration. Celtics fans, who’ve grown accustomed to postseason dominance in recent years, were left stunned by the back-to-back defeats.

“The atmosphere was electric until the end,” one TD Garden staffer noted. “But when that final buzzer sounded and the Knicks had won again, it was like someone lit a match.”

    "F*ck Boston!

    "Let's go Knicks!"

    Police Investigation Underway

Boston authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from both inside and outside the arena to determine the extent of the altercations and identify those responsible. While one man was seen in cuffs, no official arrests have been confirmed as of this report.

The Boston Police Department has not responded to media requests for further comment. However, given the visibility of the incident, charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assault could be forthcoming.

What’s Next: Game 3 at MSG

As the series shifts to Madison Square Garden for Game 3, tensions are only expected to rise. The Celtics will have several days to regroup and prepare for what’s likely to be a hostile environment in New York City — especially for any Boston fans brave enough to wear green in the heart of Knicks territory.

Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 PM ET on Saturday, and if recent events are any indication, both the players and their fans will bring intensity, passion, and maybe even a little hostility to the showdown.

    ???? Final Thoughts

While rivalries are at the heart of what makes NBA playoffs unforgettable, Wednesday night’s events outside TD Garden serve as a reminder that passion should never cross the line into violence. As the Celtics and Knicks continue to battle on the court, let’s hope fans can keep the competition civil — and let the teams settle the score where it matters most.
