Diddy’s Legal Team Moves to Strike Kid Cudi’s Explosive Testimony on 2012 Car Bombing
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team is working to strike Kid Cudi’s bombshell testimony from his ongoing federal sex trafficking trial, calling the rapper’s claims “speculative” and “unfairly prejudicial.”
On May 22, during the ninth day of trial proceedings, Cudi—real name Scott Mescudi—recounted a harrowing 2012 incident in which his Porsche was destroyed by a Molotov cocktail. He said he first learned of the fire from his dog-sitter, then received a shocking photo from a friend showing the vehicle engulfed in flames.
“The top of my Porsche was cut open,” Cudi told the court. “That’s where they inserted the Molotov cocktail.”
Police confirmed at the time that an incendiary device caused the fire, though the incident went largely unpublicized until 2023. In court, Cudi linked the attack to his brief romance with singer Cassie Ventura—who was dating Combs at the time. Ventura has since accused Diddy of threatening to blow up Cudi’s car in a fit of jealousy.
Cudi’s Confrontation With Diddy
Cudi testified that after the explosion, he confronted Combs at Los Angeles’ Soho House. When he asked, “What are we going to do about my car?” Diddy allegedly replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Years later, they met again. According to Cudi, Diddy offered a vague apology: “I want to apologize for everything.”
Diddy’s Defense Pushes Back
Combs’ legal team has filed a motion to strike Cudi’s statements from the record, claiming the testimony lacks direct evidence, relies on inference, and unfairly damages the jury’s perception. They argue Cudi’s remarks amount to “character assassination,” especially since he implied Combs was both a liar and involved in the arson without direct proof.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said official records of the incident are no longer available due to document retention expiration. Kid Cudi’s legal team has not responded to requests for comment.

Cudi’s appearance in court comes amid Diddy’s broader legal battle, where the hip-hop mogul faces federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and facilitating prostitution. He has denied all allegations.
