Niko McKnight, the son of R&B singer Brian McKnight, has sadly passed away following a courageous fight with cancer. He was known not only for his creativity and talent but also for his gentle spirit.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his uncle, Claude McKnight, who took to TikTok to pay tribute to his nephew.
“This morning I found out that my nephew, Niko McKnight, passed away,” Claude shared. “He’d been bravely battling cancer for the past two years or so.”
Remembering Niko: A Life Filled With Talent and Creativity
Claude described Niko as an exceptional soul with a deep artistic flair.
“Niko was one of those amazing kids… quirky, curious, and ridiculously talented. An amazing singer, amazing guitar player. Had a great eye as a photographer,” he recalled. “And one of those kids, at least in my estimation, that you always wanted to be around.”
Family Tensions and Unresolved Pain
While celebrating Niko’s life, Claude acknowledged the family rifts that have publicly surfaced in recent years.
“I wanted to post this about Niko, about his legacy, about how amazing he is—not about what some of you may have heard about family drama that has existed for quite some time,” he said.
Though he didn’t dive into the details, he alluded to lingering pain Niko carried.
“I know that kid had a lot inside, a lot eating at him for a long, long time. I may have contributed to what happened with him… What I do know is he’s out of pain now. I just want to uplift that young man.”
