Pusha T Blasts Drake Over Kendrick Lawsuit: “It Cheapens the Art”

There’s no love lost between Pusha T and Drake, and the tension continues to simmer.

In a new interview with GQ, the Virginia-bred rapper addressed Drake’s federal lawsuit against Kendrick Lamar and Universal Music Group (UMG), making it clear he no longer considers Drake a top-tier MC.

“I don’t rate him no more,” Pusha said bluntly. “The suing thing is bigger than some rap s**t. It just kind of cheapens the art of it.”

Pusha T Reflects on Past Feud: “I Did the Dance for Real”

Pusha also revisited his explosive 2018 diss track, “The Story of Adidon,” which exposed Drake’s secret child and became one of the most iconic diss tracks in modern rap history.

“I did the dance for real,” he said. “Not to come back and tiptoe around anything.”

And if Drake ever decides to reignite the feud?

“I would only engage again if I felt like it,” Pusha added—suggesting the door isn’t completely closed on future lyrical warfare.

Drake vs. Kendrick: The Lawsuit That Sparked Debate

In January, Drake filed an 81-page lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accusing UMG of approving and launching a viral campaign centered around a diss track that falsely accused him of being a pedophile and allegedly called for violence against him.

UMG responded swiftly and forcefully, labeling the lawsuit as:

    • “Frivolous”
    • “Reckless”
    • “Misguided”

The label’s legal team argued that the content in question falls under “rhetorical hyperbole”—a staple of hip-hop tradition—and warned that treating battle rap lyrics as literal defamation threatens freedom of speech and artistic expression.

The Clipse Return: New Album Coming Soon

Despite the drama, Pusha T isn’t letting the controversy slow him down. After a 15-year hiatus since their last joint album Til the Casket Drops (2009), The Clipse—Pusha T and his brother No Malice—are set to release their long-awaited comeback project, Let God Sort Em Out, on July 11.

    Final Word

While Drake continues to dominate charts—most recently becoming the first artist with 10 Diamond singles—Pusha T remains unmoved. For him, artistry in rap goes beyond numbers and legal claims.

Whether this war of words will flare up again remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: for Pusha, lawsuits and lyrical greatness don’t mix.
