SiR Says Drake-Kendrick Beef Led to Toronto Show Ban

SiR, the soulful singer signed to Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), claims he was unexpectedly caught in the middle of one of hip-hop’s most talked-about rivalries—Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake—which ultimately led to the cancellation of his 2023 show in Toronto.

During a recent concert in Canada, SiR opened up to fans about how the tension between the two rap titans impacted him directly:

“The venue in Toronto, which was partially owned by Drake, canceled the show completely,” SiR said to the crowd. “Then when we tried to switch venues, the next venue was like, ‘Nah, we ain’t fking with it. I ain’t taking no motherfking chance.’”

    Flashback: Canceled With No Warning

Back in 2023, SiR posted an apology on Instagram after fans were left confused about the sudden cancellation of the show:

“So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We’re working on rescheduling for a later date,” he wrote.

“For those wondering, we sold that show out. It was cancelled by the venue. Not sure why. My apologies again to those that came just to see me.”

At the time, no official explanation was given—but now, SiR says the Kendrick vs. Drake feud was the real reason behind the cancellation.

TDE Artists Unwelcome in the 6?

SiR wasn’t alone. Fellow TDE rapper ScHoolboy Q also faced issues in Toronto around the same time. He posted on social media:

“They just cancelled my show in TORONTO ???? CANADIAN POLICE DON’T WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING.”

That post only fueled speculation that TDE artists were being quietly blacklisted in certain parts of Canada during the heated rap feud.

The Fallout of a Rap War

As Kendrick Lamar and Drake dominated headlines with their lyrical warfare—diss tracks, cryptic bars, and strategic alliances—their beef may have had real-world consequences for artists affiliated with them.

Although neither Drake nor Kendrick has directly commented on SiR or ScHoolboy Q’s cancellations, SiR’s recent statement confirms what many fans suspected:
The beef wasn’t just in the music—it spilled over into bookings, venues, and livelihoods.
