Tems Claps Back at Troll Over Body-Shaming Tweet: “It’s Mine. Show Me Yours First?”

Nigerian singer Tems is no stranger to breaking records and turning heads—but this week, she broke the internet for something far more personal: shutting down a body-shaming troll with unapologetic power.

It all started when a Twitter user made an unsolicited, demeaning comment about Tems’ figure:

“Real one knows she just have big laps not actual ass.”

    Cue the backlash.

The comment went viral for all the wrong reasons—sparking outrage, eye rolls, and a legendary clapback from Tems herself.

Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up.
I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird. “It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.”
Dog ITS MINE. “Show us your bumbum” lol so me too I will turn and say “see🥰”
Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body I… https://t.co/Zv4R5B9hRk

    Tems Responds: “It’s Small, It’s Flat, It’s Fat… Dog, IT’S MINE”

Clearly fed up with the years of scrutiny, the Grammy-winning artist fired back with grace and fury:

“Okay, seven years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird.
    It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat. Dog, IT’S MINE.
Show me yours first? See how that feels?”

    She didn’t stop there.

Tems went on to reclaim the conversation, adding:

“My weight will fluctuate and that’s fine. The more you don’t like my body, the better for me actually.”

And she closed with the mic-drop line:

    “Move on from my bum.”

Fans & Peers Applaud Her Empowerment

Social media erupted in support of Tems’ fiery response. Her fans praised her for refusing to shrink herself to fit anyone’s expectations. Even her manager, Muniwa Awoniyi, jumped in, tweeting:

“No single sense do they have on this app.”

Tems Has Always Owned Her Body—On Her Terms

Tems has long used her platform to celebrate body confidence and individuality.

In a recent Cocoa Butter interview, she said:

“I love being curvy. I love that I have a little booty.”

She also revealed she prefers baggy clothes in the studio, not to hide her body, but to stay focused on creating music for herself—not for the male gaze.

“My fashion choices are about comfort and creativity. Not to please anyone.”

    Her Impact Goes Beyond Music

At just 29, Tems is not only topping global charts but also challenging toxic beauty standards with every bold move she makes.

From viral hits to headlining SXSW: London, she’s proven that women don’t need to conform to be powerful. They just need to be heard.

Her voice—whether through song or clapback—is unapologetically hers.

    What’s Next for Tems?

After the success of her album Born In The Wild, Tems is currently working on her next project. Though the album remains untitled with no official release date, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s to come.

If her music carries even a fraction of the strength she showed this week, the next chapter will be iconic.

    ???? Final Thought

In a digital world where women are constantly judged, Tems just reminded us all:
Confidence is rebellion. And she’s the revolution.

???? What did you think of Tems’ response? Do you agree that it’s time to stop policing women’s bodies online? Drop your thoughts below.
