Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, better known as Bobi Wine, has issued a rallying call to Uganda’s educated youth, urging them to actively participate in politics as the country gears up for the 2026 general elections. The National Unity Platform (NUP) President emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping a better future for the nation.

“Take Charge or Be Led by Those You Despise”

Speaking at a recent event, Bobi Wine addressed the youth directly, stressing that their disengagement from politics could have long-term consequences. According to him, when capable and educated individuals abstain from political participation, it paves the way for leaders who may lack the vision or integrity required to move the country forward.

“I urge the educated youth, those who believe in their country and those who lead others, to get involved in active politics,” Bobi Wine declared passionately. “If you don’t get involved, you will end up being led by the people you despise. That is not a good sign for your future or the future of Uganda.”

A Call to Action for Uganda’s Educated Youth

Bobi Wine’s message resonates deeply with a generation of young Ugandans who have expressed dissatisfaction with the status quo. By appealing to their sense of responsibility and patriotism, the NUP leader seeks to mobilize them to play a more significant role in decision-making processes.

His words have sparked discussions on how young, educated citizens can use their skills, knowledge, and influence to bring about meaningful change in Uganda’s political landscape.

The Fight for Artists’ Rights

In addition to his political call to action, Bobi Wine also addressed an issue close to his heart: the state of Uganda’s creative industry. He advocated for the amendment of the country’s copyright laws, emphasizing the need for better protections for artists and their intellectual property.

“Our artists should stop being beggars,” he stated firmly. “It’s time for the government to prioritize the creative industry by amending outdated copyright laws and ensuring that artists earn from their work.”

Empowering Artists to Thrive

Bobi Wine, himself an acclaimed musician, has long championed the rights of artists. His call for reform reflects the struggles faced by many Ugandan creatives, who often lack the legal frameworks and support needed to protect their work and achieve financial independence.

By addressing these issues alongside his political agenda, Bobi Wine highlights the interconnectedness of cultural, economic, and political development in Uganda.

The Role of Youth in the 2026 Elections

As Uganda approaches the 2026 general elections, Bobi Wine’s message serves as a wake-up call to the country’s young and educated population. He believes their involvement is crucial not only for achieving political change but also for building a more inclusive and prosperous society.

Through his dual focus on youth empowerment and artist rights, Bobi Wine continues to position himself as a champion of the people, advocating for a Uganda where talent, ambition, and education are valued and nurtured.

Looking Ahead

With the 2026 elections looming, Bobi Wine’s appeal underscores the critical role that active citizen participation plays in shaping Uganda’s future. His call to action has energized youth movements and reignited conversations about leadership, accountability, and the power of collective action.

Whether through politics, arts, or activism, Bobi Wine’s message is clear: the time for Uganda’s youth to step up and take ownership of their destiny is now.
