AEW star PAC has died at 40, with the shocking news coming less than a day after the British wrestler competed at the company’s All Out pay-per-view in Chicago.
All Elite Wrestling announced PAC’s death Sunday night, remembering the wrestler — whose real name was Benjamin Satterley — for his innovative high-flying style and in-ring ability.
AEW did not disclose a cause of death or provide additional details surrounding his passing.
The timing of the announcement made the news particularly shocking. PAC had been active throughout Saturday night’s All Out event.
He challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship and lost the match, with the two wrestlers shaking hands afterward.
But PAC’s night was not over.
The Newcastle, England native later returned during the main event, becoming involved in the AEW World Championship match between fellow Death Riders member Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay.
PAC began his professional wrestling career in 2004 and joined AEW in 2019.
During his AEW run, he became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion and won the AEW World Trios Championship twice.
Before joining AEW, Satterley competed in WWE under the name Neville. He became NXT Champion and a two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion during his time with the company.
His career was built around a high-flying wrestling style that made him one of the more recognizable performers of his generation.
Just hours before news of his death, fans had watched him compete in the ring and return later in the evening for another major match.
