Blacc Sam is giving Jay-Z his flowers for honoring Nipsey Hussle onstage, calling the gesture “monumental” while revealing how much the hip-hop mogul has done for his late brother, their family and their business interests behind the scenes.
Nipsey’s older brother spoke about Jay-Z’s tribute while at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, October 26, following the rapper’s concert at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood over the weekend. According to Sam, the moment prompted an overwhelming response, with his phone lighting up after the performance.
For Sam, however, the tribute meant more than a public acknowledgment of Nipsey’s legacy. It came from someone he and his brother had admired since childhood, who eventually became part of their professional circle and helped champion Nipsey’s career.
Sam explained that Jay-Z had contributed to their journey in ways the public might not fully appreciate, both musically and on the business side.

The relationship represents a significant shift from admiration at a distance to receiving support from one of hip-hop’s most influential figures. Sam said Jay-Z had done a great deal for both brothers over the years, making the recent onstage recognition especially meaningful.
But the support, according to Sam, extends beyond music.
He credited Jay-Z with helping Nipsey, supporting their family and backing business ventures connected to the late rapper’s legacy. One example is Marathon Burger, the restaurant chain co-owned by Sam, which recently opened a new location at LAX Terminal 1.
The expansion adds another business development to the Marathon brand, which continues to carry forward the name associated with Nipsey Hussle and his entrepreneurial ambitions.

Nipsey, born Ermias Asghedom, was widely recognized for combining his music career with business ventures and community-focused initiatives. His legacy continues to be reflected in projects associated with his name and the people closest to him.
Jay-Z’s connection to Nipsey also reflects a broader relationship between established hip-hop figures and artists building independent careers. As Sam described it, the support was not limited to a single public appearance or tribute; it included backing across music and business.
For Blacc Sam, the moment at SoFi Stadium was a reminder of the respect Jay-Z continues to show his brother. And with Marathon Burger expanding its footprint, the tribute arrives as the family continues building on the legacy Nipsey left behind.
