Chance the Rapper has reached a monumental milestone in his career, cementing his legacy with the Diamond certification of “I’m the One,” his chart-topping collaboration with DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, and Quavo. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently confirmed that the song has sold over 10 million equivalent units in the U.S., marking a historic achievement for the Chicago artist.

    A Moment of Gratitude

Reflecting on the success of the track, which has garnered an astounding 1.8 billion views on YouTube, Chance expressed his gratitude. “‘I’m the One’ has been a special record since the day we created it. Watching it go Diamond is proof of its deep connection with so many fans. Big thanks to Khaled, Quavo, Justin, and Wayne. Performing this song always brings an incredible energy, and the love for it never fades.”

He added, “Closing out the year by performing it live in my hometown, the greatest city in the world, was unforgettable. I’m beyond grateful.”

    A Legacy of Breaking Barriers

This milestone adds to Chance’s growing list of groundbreaking achievements as an independent artist. He was the first independent act to win multiple GRAMMY Awards, securing three for his streaming-only mixtape Coloring Book. He also made history as the first artist without a traditional record deal to host and perform on Saturday Night Live.

Chance’s innovative approach has consistently challenged industry norms. His critically acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap charted despite being a free release, making him the first independent solo artist to accomplish such a feat. These accomplishments underline his ability to thrive outside the constraints of a major label.

    Celebrating at the Winter Classic

The official Diamond plaque presentation took place during Chance’s electrifying performance at the 2025 NHL Winter Classic in Chicago. The hometown crowd witnessed him deliver a high-energy set featuring hits like “I’m the One,” “No Problem,” “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” and “All Night.” The moment not only celebrated his latest success but also underscored his enduring connection to his roots and fans.

    A Beacon for Independent Artists

Chance the Rapper’s journey continues to redefine the possibilities for independent musicians, proving that authenticity and talent can resonate on a global scale. With this latest achievement, Chance solidifies his place as one of the most influential and innovative artists of his generation.
