Dame Dash Slams JAY-Z, Accuses Him of Sabotaging Business Deals and ‘Messing with His Money’
Dame Dash is back at it again with his outspoken remarks about his former business partner, JAY-Z. During a recent appearance on Art of Dialogue, Dash shared his frustration, stating that he doesn’t care about what JAY-Z is up to unless it affects his financial interests.
“Unless he’s messing my money up, I don’t give a f**k what Jay’s doing,” Dash said. “But when he’s [messing] with my money, that’s when I be like, ‘You know what? Enough is enough.’”
The Tommy Hilfiger Deal Controversy
Dash continued by accusing JAY-Z of sabotaging a potential Tommy Hilfiger clothing deal in 2005, claiming that just before the deal was about to be finalized, JAY-Z made an announcement that he was no longer affiliated with Rocawear and was exclusively working with his S. Carter line. According to Dash, this move ruined the deal and cost him millions. “Right before Tommy Hilfiger signs the papers, J makes an announcement saying he’s not with Rocawear, that he’s only [messing] with S. Carter,” Dash explained. “F**ked the whole deal up and I just feel like he did that only because I was gonna make $40 million.”
While Dash walked away with $22.5 million when Rocawear was sold, JAY-Z later sold the brand to Iconix Brand Group in 2007 for $204 million. Dash insists that this was part of a recurring pattern, alleging that JAY-Z sabotaged every opportunity he had to make significant money. “Every time I could have made a really big check, he’s always stepped in and intentionally f**ked it up,” Dash said.
JAY-Z Compared to The Penguin: Dash Responds to His Critics
Dash also compared JAY-Z’s business tactics to that of The Penguin, one of Batman’s most infamous villains from the DC universe, suggesting that JAY-Z’s ruthless approach resembles the cold, calculating nature of the character. “If you could compare him to a character now, I’d say he’s like the Penguin,” Dash stated. “He’s ruthless like that.”
Dash also responded to critics, saying that he isn’t the one initiating the conversation about JAY-Z. “They make it sound like I just volunteered to start talking about JAY-Z. But people are really asking me questions about him,” Dash said. “If everybody doesn’t want to hear me talk about JAY, why the f**k do people keep asking me questions about him?”
Dash’s Final Straw: JAY-Z’s Ties with R. Kelly
The controversy didn’t stop there. Dash also spoke out about JAY-Z’s relationship with R. Kelly, which, according to Dash, was the final straw in their deteriorating friendship. Dash, who was in a relationship with Aaliyah at the time of her tragic death, expressed his shock and disbelief when JAY-Z decided to collaborate with R. Kelly, especially after Kelly’s controversial marriage to Aaliyah when she was just 15 years old.
“The fact that Jay was messing with him just blew my mind,” Dash said. “I never understood why he wanted to work with that guy so badly.” He continued, recalling a conversation with JAY-Z where he confronted him directly: “I asked him straight up, ‘How are you gonna do a project with a guy who raped my girl?’ That alone was enough for me. It was the final straw.”
