Freddie Gibbs and Benny The Butcher’s feud has been one of hip-hop’s most heated rivalries. From lyrical shots to alleged physical altercations, their fallout has kept fans buzzing for years. So when a video surfaced showing the two rappers at a Paris airport earlier this month, the internet went wild with speculation: had the two finally squashed the beef?

    A Viral Airport Moment

The short clip, shared across Twitter and Instagram, appeared to capture both rappers in close proximity. The sight alone was enough to spark theories of reconciliation, with some fans claiming it marked a long-overdue truce.

Griselda’s Westside Gunn even fueled the chatter, hinting the moment might signal calm between the two. But while social media ran with the narrative, Freddie Gibbs has since stepped forward to set the record straight.

    Gibbs Clears the Air

In a sit-down with Complex’s Jordan Rose to promote Alfredo 2, his new joint album with The Alchemist, Gibbs addressed the viral footage head-on.

“I’ma say this: I mean, you saw me standing there,” Gibbs said. “I was just in the airport. Everything that everybody tried to make out of it, that wasn’t true. I barely even said a word, I was just standing there.”

According to Gibbs, the encounter was more awkward than anything else.

“Of course, we ain’t a friendship; what we gon’ do? I ain’t going to jail over that, so, y’all do y’all thing. Only thing I really said was, ‘Aye, man, this ain’t the time or the place.’ I just tried to keep it gangster.”

“A lot of this rap sh*t be on some WWF… It wasn’t nothing everybody was making it out to be. I barely said a word.”

    From Feud to Frenzy

The Gibbs–Benny feud dates back several years, sparked in part by jokes about a past shooting and further fueled by rumors of an altercation in Buffalo. What began as light shots escalated into one of rap’s most closely watched beefs, with diss tracks and social commentary keeping the tension alive.

That’s why a simple airport sighting turned into a cultural moment. Fans wanted answers, and speculation filled the void.

    Focus on the Bag

For Gibbs, though, the encounter was just another day on the road. He revealed he was headed to London at the time to link with The Alchemist and focus on the money, not the drama.

“I was on my way to London to meet up with [The Alchemist] and get a bag, so I ain’t about to fk my bag up fing with no n***’s,” Gibbs explained.

To him, the rap game often mirrors pro wrestling, with exaggerated beefs and staged theatrics.

“A lot of this rap st be on some WWF st, so I don’t get into that,” he added. “I ain’t never even spoke to Westside Gunn, so I don’t know where all that comes from… I looked at the st and I saw people was talking about it and I was like, ‘Oh, yeah. There’s some more fake st.’”

    “It Wasn’t That Deep”

At the end of the day, Gibbs insists fans blew the encounter out of proportion.

“It wasn’t nothing that everybody was making it out to be. I was just standing there with my arms folded up, bro. I barely said a word,” he said.

He doubled down on not entertaining unnecessary drama:

“But them n****s into that wrestling s**t, so they do that. I don’t wrestle.”

    Social Media Reacts

Despite Gibbs’ clarification, the airport clip continues to stir reactions online. Some fans still believe it was a sign of peace, while others agree with Gibbs that the hype was all smoke and mirrors.

    On Twitter, comments ranged from:

    • “This beef been dead, they just don’t wanna say it.”
    • “Freddie right, the internet always makes sh*t bigger than it is.”
    • “If these two ever collab, hip-hop won’t be ready.”

    The Bigger Picture

This incident highlights a recurring theme in hip-hop: how quickly ordinary moments can turn into viral headlines. In today’s internet-driven culture, even a casual run-in at an airport can spark narratives of reconciliation, beef escalation, or secret collaborations.

For Gibbs, the episode is another reminder of how he’s perceived in the game: part villain, part truth-teller, and always unfiltered. For Benny The Butcher, who has stayed quiet about the clip, the silence only adds to the mystery.

    Will They Ever Reconcile?

While Gibbs made it clear the Paris moment wasn’t a truce, fans remain hopeful that one day the two could set differences aside and collaborate. Given their lyrical abilities and raw storytelling, a joint project would likely send shockwaves through the culture.

Until then, both artists seem more focused on their own paths. Gibbs is celebrating the release of Alfredo 2 with The Alchemist, while Benny continues to build on his Griselda legacy.

    Final Take

The Paris airport sighting may not have been the olive branch fans wanted, but it proves just how closely hip-hop culture watches every move of its stars. For now, Freddie Gibbs says it was “not that deep” — but in rap, even the simplest encounters can turn into legends.
