In a significant move, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces in Uganda, has officially exited X, formerly known as Twitter, ending a decade-long presence on the platform. The General’s departure marks the conclusion of a journey that began in 2014 and saw him actively engage with followers on social media.

In his heartfelt farewell message, General Kainerugaba expressed gratitude to his supporters, describing his online experience as a “great whirlwind and rousing journey.” He hinted at embarking on a new chapter, guided by faith and a deeper commitment to his responsibilities as the head of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).

“To all my Dear followers, it has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014,” the General wrote in his parting message.

He further explained that his decision to leave the platform stemmed from spiritual guidance and a renewed focus on his duties. “It is on the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ that I leave this social media and dedicate myself to my assignment to bring peace and security to our region,” he stated.

General Kainerugaba’s message reflected a sense of camaraderie and affection for his followers. “I know you all love me, and that you will continue to follow me like the wind long after here,” he added, signaling a lasting connection with his audience despite his exit from the digital sphere.

A search for his former handle, ‘@mkainerugaba,’ on X now confirms his departure, with no results found for the account. The decision to step away from the platform underscores his focus on fulfilling his duties within the UPDF and contributing to peace and security in the region.

General Kainerugaba has been a prominent figure on social media, using the platform to share updates, engage with followers, and provide insights into his work and personal reflections. His exit is seen as a noteworthy shift in his public communication strategy, aligning with his commitment to his leadership role.

As one of the key figures in Uganda’s defense and security apparatus, General Kainerugaba’s renewed focus on his official duties highlights the importance of his mission to promote stability and peace in the region. While his absence from X will be felt by his followers, his message of dedication and purpose resonates as a testament to his priorities.
