Keshia Chanté is setting the record straight on rumors that Drake is the father of her unborn child — but she isn’t revealing the identity of the baby’s dad just yet.
A representative for Chanté tells TMZ that the father is a “public figure in music,” hours after Drake’s camp denied speculation that the rapper was expecting another child with the Canadian entertainer.
Chanté’s representative also explained why she kept the pregnancy private.
“She is protective of her family, which is why she has kept her pregnancy under wraps for almost 8 months,” the rep said.
The statement does not identify the father.
Rumors about Drake began circulating Tuesday after Chanté shared photos from a maternity shoot without publicly naming the father.
Because Chanté and Drake have known each other for years, social media users quickly connected the two and speculated that the rapper could be the father.
Drake’s representatives at The Agency Group pushed back on the speculation, telling TMZ the rumors were “inaccurate” and completely false.
Chanté’s latest statement appears to settle one part of the speculation: her baby’s father is a public figure in the music world, but there is no confirmation from her camp that the person is Drake.
The two have a long history of knowing each other, which helped fuel the online speculation after Chanté’s pregnancy announcement. However, neither that history nor the maternity photos established who fathered the child.
Drake is already a father to one child. The rapper shares his 8-year-old son, Adonis, with French artist Sophie Brussaux.
For now, the identity of Chanté’s baby’s father remains private. Her representative’s statement narrows the mystery only slightly — confirming a connection to the music world while leaving the name of the father undisclosed.
