U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ordered the racketeering counts to be severed from the Los Angeles case, allowing the previously scheduled August 20 trial on the original charges to move forward without those additional allegations included.

Judge Separates Racketeering Allegations From August Trial
The federal case against Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, centers on allegations that prosecutors say involve a murder-for-hire plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo.
Authorities allege that the case involved an attempted attack connected to Rondo that resulted in the death of his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Durk has faced federal charges related to the investigation, and prosecutors later introduced additional racketeering allegations in June.
Defense attorneys argued that adding the new counts shortly before trial created challenges for preparing an effective defense.
They requested that the new allegations either be dismissed or separated into another proceeding.
