A supposed jail photo of the rapper is circulating online, but TMZ has learned the image is AI-generated and does not show Lil Durk.
A supposed mug shot of Lil Durk is going viral across social media — but there’s one major problem: the photo isn’t real.
The image appears to show the Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, with a shaved head while wearing what looks like jail clothing.
But sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ the viral image is bogus and represents another example of AI-generated content being passed around as real.
Lil Durk Is Not Bald
According to sources, Durk currently has a short haircut, but he is not bald like the person depicted in the viral image.
TMZ also contacted the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles regarding the purported mug shot.
A spokesperson responded simply:
“Photos are not releasable.”
That further undermines the authenticity of the image circulating online.
The fake photo comes at a time when there is already significant public interest in Durk’s whereabouts and legal situation.
Lil Durk Has Been in Federal Custody Since 2024
Durk has remained behind bars since his October 2024 arrest in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Federal prosecutors allege that the rapper sought revenge following the 2020 killing of his friend and fellow rapper King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Daquan Bennett.
Prosecutors have alleged that members of Durk’s crew later targeted rapper Quando Rondo in California in 2022.
Quando survived that shooting, but his cousin Lul Pab was killed.
Durk has denied wrongdoing and remains in federal custody in California while awaiting trial.
Another Viral AI Celebrity Hoax
The fake mug shot highlights how quickly AI-generated celebrity images can spread online, particularly when they involve high-profile legal cases.
In this case, the image may look convincing at first glance, but people familiar with Durk’s current appearance say the hairstyle alone gives it away.
There has been no legitimate mug shot released showing Durk with a bald head.
TMZ has also reached out to Durk’s representatives for comment but has not received a response.
For now, the viral image should be treated for what it is: a fake.
