The Miami Dolphins are facing a serious shake-up in their coaching staff. Ryan Crow, the team’s outside linebackers coach, was arrested early Friday morning in Fort Lauderdale on one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to police records obtained by TMZ Sports.
The 37-year-old remains in custody as of late Friday morning at a Broward County jail.
Police Report: Witnesses Say Woman Looked “Terrified”
According to the police documents, multiple witnesses told officers they saw Crow get physical with a woman after a heated argument reportedly centered on “past relationships.”
- One witness said Crow had his arms around the woman “as if he was going to perform a takedown,” whispering into her ear while she looked visibly terrified.
- Another witness told police Crow attempted to “grapple” with the woman and threw “slaps” during the dispute.
The report states Crow only backed away when he noticed others were watching. He then began walking back to his apartment.
Police Statement on the Incident
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department confirmed to TMZ Sports that officers were called to the scene at 12:08 AM Friday after reports of a domestic disturbance.
“As a result of the on-scene investigation, Crow was arrested for one count of misdemeanor domestic battery,” the department said.
Officials added that the victim declined medical attention and was not seriously injured.
Dolphins Respond
The Miami Dolphins addressed the arrest in a public statement, calling it a “serious matter” and confirming that Crow has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately.
“We have been in communication with the NFL and will reserve further comment at this time,” the team said.
Crow’s Coaching Career
Crow, a former walk-on linebacker at Bowling Green, joined head coach Mike McDaniel’s staff in 2024 after six seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He was brought in to help shape the Dolphins’ defensive unit, particularly the outside linebackers group.
Now, with his legal issues unfolding, his future with the organization — and possibly the league — is in serious jeopardy.
Developing Story
This arrest adds to a growing list of off-the-field controversies the NFL has been forced to confront in recent years. As of now, Crow has not publicly commented on the allegations.
