Los Angeles, CA – 50 Cent is stepping into the ring—literally—for the upcoming live-action “Street Fighter” film, where he’s been cast as the fearsome fighter Balrog. And according to longtime G-Unit DJ Whoo Kid, Paramount couldn’t have picked a better man for the role.
Speaking exclusively to TMZ Hip Hop, Whoo Kid opened up about 50’s legendary ability to knock people out, both on and off the stage.
“I still have nightmares when I messed up onstage and 50 would hit me with a Buffalo Charge or Turn Punch,” Whoo Kid revealed. “Trust me, he’s the real deal—Paramount got it right casting him as Balrog.”
From Junior Olympics to Hollywood
50 Cent isn’t just acting like a fighter—he trained as a 15-year-old amateur boxer in the Junior Olympics. That experience gave him a foundation in real combat techniques, something Whoo Kid says has left a lasting impression on anyone who’s shared a stage with him.
“The artists who felt those fists haven’t forgotten,” Whoo Kid said with a laugh.
Video Game Movies Get Real
The upcoming “Street Fighter” live-action film is set to square off against “Mortal Kombat II” at the box office next year. But Whoo Kid isn’t worried about the competition.
“I love ‘Mortal Kombat,’ but the first movie was a pure fatality for my eyes,” he said. “The acting was so bad, I don’t know how anyone watched the finished product and thought it was ready for theaters. And now they’re doing it again in 2026!”
Whoo Kid believes the “Street Fighter” reboot will raise the bar, especially with 50 Cent bringing authentic combat skills and star power to the project.
“Wack video game movies are an epidemic,” he says. “But 50 and ‘Street Fighter’? That’s going to be a game-changer.”
50 Cent’s Hollywood Knockout
This role continues 50 Cent’s trend of combining his real-life toughness with his entertainment career, a hallmark of the rapper-turned-actor. Fans can expect high-energy fight sequences, classic Balrog bravado, and plenty of nods to 50’s streetwise persona.
With the film slated for a 2026 release, moviegoers are already buzzing to see how the legendary rapper translates his ring skills to the big screen.
