LeBron James Shows Support for Kendrick Lamar Amid Drake’s Jabs

LeBron James has once again voiced his support for Kendrick Lamar, seemingly responding to recent tensions with Drake. On Wednesday, February 5, LeBron took to Instagram to express his excitement for Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance. The NBA superstar shared a highlight from Kendrick’s 2022 appearance during Dr. Dre’s halftime show, writing, “He gone kill that [poo emoji]!!!! Can’t wait *Bart Scott voice,” referencing former NFL player Bart Scott’s iconic catchphrase.

This public display of support for Kendrick comes at a time when LeBron and Drake’s relationship appears to be strained. The two, once close friends, have been at the center of tension after a fallout sparked by Kendrick Lamar. Drake recently took a jab at LeBron during the kickoff of his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia. During his performance in Perth, Drake altered the lyrics of his 2018 song “Nonstop,” a track that previously praised LeBron. In the original, Drake raps, “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” but at the concert, he changed it to “How do I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?”

Drake’s Frustrations with LeBron and Kendrick

This incident follows a pattern of subtle frustrations from Drake towards LeBron, as well as possibly other figures like NBA star DeMar DeRozan. On his track “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” Drake appeared to take aim at LeBron’s public support for Kendrick Lamar, specifically referencing LeBron’s presence at the Pop Out concert in 2023. In the song, Drake raps, “The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Seemed like they loved every minute / Just know this shit is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”

While LeBron has not publicly addressed these comments, his recent social media activity suggests that his loyalty to Kendrick remains unwavering. Last August, the NBA legend posted a photo wearing Nike Air Force Ones inscribed with “Love you forever” and an infinity symbol, a clear sign of his ongoing support for the rapper.

    LeBron’s Gesture Speaks Volumes

LeBron’s recent post expressing excitement for Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance, as well as his Instagram Story tribute to Kendrick’s music, reflects a deep bond with the rapper. This public gesture speaks volumes about LeBron’s commitment to Kendrick, even in the face of pointed remarks from Drake.

As the drama continues to unfold, fans of both LeBron and Kendrick eagerly anticipate the Super Bowl halftime show, where Kendrick is expected to deliver another iconic performance.
