Suge Knight Reveals Tensions Between 2Pac and Snoop Dogg Before 2Pac’s Death

In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight opened up about a heated altercation between 2Pac and Snoop Dogg that took place shortly before 2Pac’s tragic death in 1996. The tension, Knight claims, was sparked by a radio interview in which Snoop Dogg expressed a willingness to collaborate with Biggie Smalls and Diddy, who were known rivals to 2Pac at the time.

    A Fiery Confrontation

Knight described the moment when 2Pac, enraged by Snoop’s comments, stormed into his hotel room after the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards. “We’re back at the hotel. Everyone’s in their rooms,” Knight recalled. “I had a special room, and only Pac knew the number. I’m in there with company, just chilling, and then—bam!—someone’s banging on the door. I throw on my boxers, open it up, and Pac rushes in. He’s all worked up, asking if I have a radio. He turns it on, and we hear Snoop talking.”

According to Knight, Snoop’s remarks set 2Pac off. “Snoop’s on the radio saying Pac’s on some bullsht,” Knight explained. “That he’d do a song with Biggie, do a song with Puffy, work with whoever. Pac was livid because he loved those guys. He always stood by them. He said, ‘Man, I put everybody on Death Row. I put everyone on my album. And now this dude gets on the radio and says f** me? He’s riding with them now? It’s on.’”

    Attempted Resolution and Escalation

Knight initially thought the situation would cool down overnight. However, the next morning, 2Pac was still fuming. “When we got downstairs, Pac went after Snoop,” Knight said. “Pac ran up, Snoop ran the other way, and I had to step in. I stopped him. I told him, ‘We’re not about to act like fools in New York. We’ll deal with this when we get home.’”

Knight’s intervention prevented further escalation in the moment, but the tension between the two rap icons reportedly lingered.

Additional 2Pac Confrontation with Michael Jackson

This recent revelation about the 2Pac-Snoop Dogg fallout adds to a growing list of rumored conflicts involving the late rapper. In an episode of The Untold, comedian Tommy Too Smooth shared a story about another alleged confrontation—this time between 2Pac and Michael Jackson. According to Tommy, the incident occurred while 2Pac was dating Kidada Jones, the daughter of music legend Quincy Jones.

At an event where Michael Jackson was present, Tommy claimed that 2Pac was disrespectful toward Kidada, leading Michael Jackson to step in. “2Pac was out partying, disrespecting Kidada, yelling at her, telling her to shut up,” Tommy said. “Michael stepped in and said, ‘Yo, you can’t talk to her like that.’”

These stories shed light on the intense, sometimes volatile, personal dynamics 2Pac was navigating in the years leading up to his death, further fueling the mysteries surrounding his legacy.
