Kapeke Dismisses Albums, Says Singles Are the Way Forward for His Career

Ugandan rising star Kapeke, real name Derrick Nsubuga, has made it clear that he has no intention of compiling music albums anytime soon. The fast-growing singer, known for his hit song Polokoto, believes that releasing singles is a more effective strategy for his music career.

Why Kapeke Prefers Singles Over Albums

During a recent TV interview, Kapeke explained that as a fresh face in the industry with a unique sound, releasing an album would not be a strategic move at this stage. He insists that singles allow him to stay relevant and continuously engage his audience with new music.

“I am still new in the industry, and I have my own unique sound. Compiling an album wouldn’t make much sense for me right now,” Kapeke stated.

    Albums Are for Older Artists?

Kapeke also expressed his belief that albums are more suited for veteran musicians who have been in the industry long enough to have the patience to compile a full project.

“Releasing albums and EPs is for older people, mostly those who are about to retire from music. Personally, I have no interest in working on an album,” he said.

He further pointed out that he grew up hearing about albums from legendary groups like Eagles Production, reinforcing his perception that albums are for established artists with long-standing careers.

A Strategy That Works for Him

Kapeke remains focused on building his brand through hit singles, keeping his momentum high in the industry. By consistently dropping fresh tracks, he aims to maintain his growing fanbase and establish himself as a leading figure in Uganda’s music scene.

While some artists may find success in albums, Kapeke is sticking to what works best for him—delivering hit after hit.
