Two Milwaukee rappers were fatally shot inside a recording studio Monday, with police arresting a 28-year-old person as the investigation continues.
Milwaukee’s hip-hop community is mourning after rappers Lil Shiesty and Funny $money were fatally shot inside a music studio Monday.
Authorities identified the victims as Quentene E. Williams, 33, and Dequaiseon D. Evans, 21. Both men were Milwaukee residents and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police responded to a commercial building near 31st Street and Cameron Avenue, where they found the two men inside a recording studio.
A 28-year-old person has been arrested in connection with the double shooting. Authorities have not yet disclosed a possible motive or detailed what led to the gunfire.
Milwaukee Rap Community Rocked by Double Shooting
Family members identified Evans as Funny $money at the scene.
His sister, Quita, described him as a funny person who was passionate about music.
“My brother was a funny person; he’s a rapper,” she said. “This situation, I don’t even know what happened.”
Evans was reportedly at the studio with Williams, who was his mentor, when the shooting occurred.
His nephew, TJ, also recalled his final conversation with his uncle.
“The last thing I said to my uncle was, ‘I love you and be safe,’” TJ said. “He said, ‘I’m always safe.’ That was it.”
The comments underscore the shock surrounding the shooting, particularly for relatives who said they had no idea the recording session would become the rappers’ final moments.
Who Was Milwaukee Rapper Lil Shiesty?
Williams, who performed under the name Lil Shiesty, was an active presence in Milwaukee’s independent hip-hop scene.
He had continued releasing music in the weeks leading up to his death. On Aug. 14, he released a music video for his latest single, “Goldie/I Ain’t Lying.”
Earlier this year, Williams released “Paid But Not Full, Vol. 1,” adding to a growing catalog that included several projects released in 2025.
Among those releases were “Streets Calling,” “Don’t Talk 2 Much Vol. 4,” “Uncomparable” and “Sorry I Was Trapping.”
His death has now left fellow artists and members of Milwaukee’s music community mourning a rapper who was still actively building his career.
Police Investigation Remains Active
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
Police have not released a possible motive, and investigators are still working to determine what happened inside the recording studio before the gunfire.
Authorities also have not said what charges the arrested 28-year-old person may face.
For now, the deaths of Lil Shiesty and Funny $money have sent shockwaves through Milwaukee’s rap scene, with the recording studio where they created music becoming the scene of a deadly shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
