Kehlani has canceled two scheduled tour performances after an emergency hospital visit left the singer unable to perform.
The 29-year-old artist was due to perform Wednesday at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey, followed by a Thursday show at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Both dates have now been scrapped after medical professionals advised her to rest her voice.
Kehlani shared the update with fans on Instagram after spending the night dealing with severe pain and difficulty swallowing.
“After two off days feeling completely normal.. ive been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain,” she wrote. “i just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows. i’m so sorry Camden & DC. my team is working on a solution.”
The cancellations represent a significant interruption to the singer’s 33-date Live Nation tour, which began earlier this month in Minneapolis.
Kehlani also made clear that the decision was not an easy one. She said she follows a strict health routine to prepare for the demands of performing on the road, making the sudden setback particularly frustrating.
“breaks my heart to have to ever do this,” she said. “i do everything i’m supposed to to ensure my health stays up to par & it still isn’t guaranteed.”
The singer has not publicly disclosed the specific diagnosis behind the hospital visit. The immediate issue, however, is clear: she has not been medically cleared to sing at the two scheduled shows.
Local fans in Camden were notified of the cancellation only hours before the venue was expected to open, adding another layer of disruption to an already sudden announcement.
Kehlani has previously spoken about the challenges of maintaining her wellness while balancing a demanding touring schedule. In a recent interview, she discussed relying on routine, meditation and medication as part of managing her overall health and bipolar disorder while working professionally.
The current tour is supporting Kehlani’s self-titled fifth studio album, which debuted at No. 1 on the R&B charts and includes the hit single “Folded.”
Her team is now exploring options for the canceled Camden and Maryland performances. It is not yet clear whether those shows will be rescheduled later in the year.
For now, the tour is expected to continue once Kehlani receives medical clearance, with the current itinerary scheduled to conclude in San Francisco in October.
