Daphne Joy is not changing her mind about what she wants from a relationship.
The model and content creator has responded to comments from Brittany Renner that appeared to criticize women who expect men to provide for them, making it clear she has no problem embracing that dynamic in her own relationships.
Joy addressed the remarks in a video response and immediately made her position known.
“That could never be you, and I love that for you,” Joy said. “I, on the other hand, have never been shy to admit that I absolutely love when my man takes care of me.”
She then added a key part of her argument.
“And I love taking care of my man.”
For Joy, the issue is not simply about receiving financial or other forms of support. She framed her preferred relationship dynamic around reciprocity, saying she is comfortable being cared for while also giving that same energy to her partner.
The response came after Renner appeared to take aim at the idea of women openly discussing men financially supporting them.
Renner has frequently used social media to speak candidly about dating, relationships, motherhood and her personal experiences, making her comments part of a much larger online conversation about expectations between men and women.
Joy, meanwhile, has long had a connection to the hip-hop world through her public relationships. She shares a son, Sire Jackson, with rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent and has also been linked publicly to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Those relationships have kept Joy’s personal life in the spotlight, but her latest comments are focused on her own expectations rather than anyone else’s.
And she appears perfectly comfortable stating them publicly.
Joy’s message is straightforward: she likes being taken care of, but she also believes in taking care of her man.
That stance has now put her and Renner on opposite sides of another social-media debate over money, gender roles and what people expect from their partners.
