Coco Jones is getting her own chapter in the Bel-Air universe.
Peacock is developing “Hilary,” a spinoff of the hit drama starring Jones as Hilary Banks, with the new series set to follow the character beyond the world of Bel-Air.
According to Deadline, the project would mark the first scripted Peacock series to receive a spinoff, adding another milestone to the franchise.
The series comes with major creative firepower. Tracy Oliver, known for Girls Trip and Harlem, is writing the project, which is being produced by Universal Television and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios, the same team behind Bel-Air.
The story will take Hilary out of familiar territory and put her in New York City.
According to the proposed logline, Hilary impulsively relocates after receiving a surprise job offer from celebrity chef Yvonne Durand. She hopes the move will help her establish an identity separate from her famous Bel-Air family background.
New York, however, quickly proves that starting fresh comes with its own complications.
Hilary will have to build a career, find genuine friendships and navigate romance while trying to establish herself on her own terms.
The potential spinoff follows Bel-Air’s four-season run, during which the series became one of Peacock’s flagship originals and introduced a dramatic reimagining of the story made famous by Will Smith’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
For Jones, the project represents an expansion of a role that has become central to her acting career. Beyond Bel-Air, she has appeared in Netflix’s Vampires vs. the Bronx and Malcolm D. Lee’s psychological thriller Strung.
She also recently wrapped production on the romantic comedy That’s Her.
Jones has been building momentum beyond television, too. Her debut album, “Why Not More?”, earned a nomination for Best R&B Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Oliver brings an equally impressive résumé to the project. She became the first Black woman to write a film that grossed more than $100 million with Girls Trip and later created and executive produced television projects including Harlem and First Wives Club.
If the project moves forward, Hilary Banks will trade the familiar Banks family home for the energy of New York — and this time, she gets to be the main character.
