The music industry is in mourning following the tragic passing of Ashna Lweri, a young Congolese musician widely known for her 2024 collaboration “Nahaso” with Ugandan rapper Fik Fameica.

An official statement from her management confirmed the devastating news on Thursday, February 27, 2025, marking a heartbreaking end to a promising musical career that had only just begun.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the young and talented Congolese musician, Ashna Lweri,” read the obituary notice from her management.

    The Tragic Incident

Born on March 15, 2020, Ashna Lweri’s life was cut short when she tragically perished in a house fire at her residence in Kampala, Uganda.

The fire, reportedly caused by an electrical fault, broke out late at night while Ashna was asleep in her bedroom. Despite efforts to rescue her, the young musician succumbed to the flames.

Her mother, who desperately tried to save her, sustained severe burns and is currently receiving intensive medical treatment.

“As Ashna Lweri’s manager, I am devastated by this loss. Ashna was an exceptional artist, full of talent and passion. She had a promising future ahead of her, and her passing is an irreparable loss for Congolese, African, and international music,” her manager shared in an emotional statement.

A Rising Star Gone Too Soon

Despite her young age, Ashna had already started making waves in the African music industry, gaining recognition for her collaboration with Fik Fameica on the hit track “Nahaso” in 2024.

Music critics and fans alike were in awe of her charismatic voice, vibrant energy, and immense potential, making her one of the youngest rising stars on the scene.

Her unexpected passing has left an undeniable void in the Congolese and African music landscape, with tributes pouring in from artists, fans, and music lovers worldwide.

    The Industry Reacts

Many Ugandan and Congolese artists, including Fik Fameica, have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the late young star.

“I’m heartbroken. Rest in peace, Ashna Lweri. Your light was bright, even if just for a short time,” Fik Fameica wrote.

Other prominent figures in the African entertainment industry have also expressed their condolences, calling for increased awareness about electrical safety to prevent such tragedies.

A Legacy That Will Live On

Ashna Lweri’s untimely departure is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be, especially for young and talented individuals with so much potential ahead of them.

Her contribution to the music industry, no matter how brief, will forever be remembered. Fans continue to celebrate her work, with “Nahaso” receiving increased streams as supporters honor her legacy.

As the music world grieves, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans.

May her soul rest in peace.
