A$AP Rocky Faces New Civil Lawsuit Despite Criminal Win

Just when it seemed A$AP Rocky could breathe easy after a courtroom victory, the rapper finds himself back in the legal spotlight. Despite being cleared of criminal charges earlier this year, Rocky now faces a civil lawsuit brought by his former associate, ASAP Relli, who claims Rocky fired a gun at him during a 2022 confrontation in Los Angeles. The case is set to go to trial on January 12, 2026, promising another high-profile courtroom showdown.

Criminal Case Behind Him, Civil Case Looms

Earlier in 2025, Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, was found not guilty on two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm—a verdict that spared him a possible 24-year prison sentence. After the ruling, he expressed gratitude, saying:

“Thank y’all for saving my life,”

acknowledging the judge and jurors who handled his criminal case.

Even with that chapter closed, the legal saga continues. Relli initially represented himself but has now retained attorneys Aaron Morris and Andrew Robertson, who are pressing forward with the civil claim. Court filings indicate both sides are “working diligently” in preparation for trial, signaling a no-compromise approach from either camp.

    Court Urges Mediation Before Trial

Rocky’s attorney, Wogai Mohmand, confirmed that no settlement offers have been made by Relli’s team. In response, the court has urged the parties to explore mediation before the trial. During an October 14 hearing, Judge William F. Fahey instructed both sides to engage in private negotiations by December 10, highlighting the urgency to potentially avoid a lengthy courtroom battle.

“We have a firm trial date about two months away. We’re going to try to settle this case,” Judge Fahey said, emphasizing the high stakes.

Why Fans and the Industry Are Watching

The case is another reminder of how fame and legal battles collide under public scrutiny. A$AP Rocky’s criminal exoneration drew headlines, but the looming civil trial keeps the spotlight firmly on him, his associates, and the challenges of navigating legal issues in the public eye.

For fans and industry observers alike, the coming months will be critical in determining whether Rocky’s legal battles finally wind down or escalate further.
