Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly headed back to solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix as prison officials investigate reports about his alleged VIP treatment behind bars.
Multiple sources told TMZ that Combs is being returned to the facility’s Special Housing Unit, commonly known as SHU, following an NBC News report detailing allegations about his life inside the federal prison.
According to the report, Combs allegedly received perks that included massages, special meals, contraband alcohol and assistance from fellow inmates with everyday chores. The allegations have not been established as facts, and sources cited by TMZ say the move to SHU is part of the prison’s investigation process.
The reported perks are extensive. NBC’s sources alleged that Combs had access to a contraband cellphone, which he allegedly used to view nude photos of an ex. The same reporting alleged that other inmates cleaned his toilet before he used it.
The report also claimed that fellow inmates made Combs’ bed, handled his laundry and prepared meals including curry chicken, pizza and empanadas. Previously reported that people in Combs’ circle allegedly deposited thousands of dollars into other inmates’ commissary accounts.

For Combs, a return to SHU marks another stint in restricted housing during his federal prison sentence. He was previously placed there in July after getting into a prison fight. TMZ reported at the time that his movement and contact were limited while he remained in the unit.
The latest development comes as Combs continues serving a 50-month federal sentence. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution.
A jury acquitted him of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges after prosecutors accused him of organizing so-called “freak-offs” involving girlfriends and male escorts.
According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records cited by TMZ, Combs’ current projected release date is January 21, 2028. The date has changed several times since his incarceration, after initially being listed for June 2028.
For now, his return to SHU appears tied to the prison’s investigation into the allegations surrounding his reported treatment at Fort Dix. The investigation could determine how much of the alleged VIP setup was actually taking place behind the prison walls.
